Staying at HGVC but pondering US/IOA for 1-2 days.

Tried to cram it all into the subject :). This will be later in August, our first non-WDW visit. The two times we've visited WDW we stayed onsite, did solely WDW activities and used WDW transport. Since we won't be staying on site at one of the US/IOA resorts (which look fab-u-lous) we'll have no early entry perks. However, I was thinking of purchasing a 2 day hopper to give us flexibility if the parks are really crowded. Does this sound reasonable?

We're not big on coasters. My son is 9. I was thinking about tickets through Undercover Tourist but if anyone can suggest any other deals I'd appreciate it. HGVC has complimentary shuttles to US/IOA so that's one less thing for me to spend money on :). Any and all tips for a first timer appreciated. I have been looking through the forum, making notes, but I literally just booked this trip (the airfare fairy didn't actually smile...it was more like a shrug) so I'm trying to come up with a plan.

Thanks in advance!

UT is a good place to get your park tickets.

most likely it is the cheapest place for them, especially if you go thru the mousesavers special link.

Thanks Macraven, that's reassuring about UT :). I'm hoping that the crowds won't be too fierce. Do they tend to lessen in the evening?
