Staying at Disney Resort but want to do one day at Universal?

I want to stay at a Disney resort on my next Disney trip, but I also want to visit Universal Studios on one of the days I'm there. The rest of the time (about 4 days) I plan to stay on Disney property. Anyone know the best thing to do? Call a cab? : ) Thanks!

can I tag on here and also ask for those of us with rental cars, what is the best route? (and how long does it take?)

I almost can't believe we have been to WDW as many times as we have and we have never been to Universal.

The best route and really only is to take I-4 east to Universal.

My family always goes to Universal once a trip. We take the Mears Shuttle. It's about $15.00 per person and they pick you up at the hotel and you call them an hour before you are ready to leave the park and they pick you up. It's really nice because we bring my dad's scooter too.

Mears works well. Or you can rent a car for a day if the price is right.

Can I also tag on here - As many times as we have been to WDW, we, too have not been to Universal. I understand there are 2 parks for Universal? I have 2 kids, 10 & 8. Which would you recommend?

As for getting there:
Rent a car for 24 (or fewer) hours; or
Mears is cost-effective for up to three people ($15 r/t); or
Town car because it's a fixed price; or
Taxi.
