Staying at Disney Hotel the night before?

We are going on a 7 day western in February. We were planning to stay at Cocoa Beach the night before, but I've been thinking it might be fun to stay at one of Disney's properties instead. We are two adults. Any thoughts on which one would be great for just a one night stay - things to do and atmosphere? Also - if we do that - can we get Disney transportation to the port? Any pros or cons to this idea? Thanks.

We're going on a 7day in March and we will be arriving at Thursday evening before sailing on Sat. We are staying at Cocoa Beach because it is close to the pier and we want a day at the beach(fri). We'll be arriving at the airport late (11:00) so we just want to stay close to the pier and just relax before departing on Sat. I say, stay at a hotel on Cocoa beach.
There are alot to choose from.
Good Luck.

It's a much longer drive to the port on the morning of the cruise if you stay on property. From Cocoa Beach it's 5 minutes, from Disney it's about an hour. Unless you booked your transfers with DCL, you can't use their buses to get to the port simply because you're staying at a Disney property. But I recommend getting a towncar anyway! :)

If you decide to stay at WDW the night before, I recommend CBR, which is a beautiful caribbean themed resort and it will put you in the island mood! For the same reason, the Polynesian would be nice, if your budget will allow it. Ditto that for the Beach Club.

Other than the drive from WDW, I can't see any real cons to the idea - why not spend a night with Disney, getting in the Disney mood? :) I highly recommend CBR. We love the resort., and it's not expensive. If you don't have your own car, you can get Tiffany Towncar to take you to the ship the next morning for about 70 bucks.

When we traveled on the 7 day in July we stayed at the Animal Kingdom Lodge for 3 nights before hand. We had no intentions of visiting any of the parks but did go to Downtown Disney a couple of times. This is a resort that can keep you captivated enough that you will find one night not enough......looking at Giraffe and other animals off of my balcony was awesome. Had Tiffany Towncar pick us up and take us to the port on sailing day!

since i love WDW it's not much of a challenge to figure out that i'd pick WDW over cocoa beach (i won't even mention sharks)...

if it were me, i'd probably stay at the Grand Floridian concierge....but that's me....
any of the WDW hotels will put you in the right mood...

i think you can pay for transfers from the hotels if you like..
but we drove to the port so that we could get there before the buses..

To get into the proper Disney mood, I would stay at the Yacht & Beach Club and hang around the Boardwalk area. You could even go into Epcot or MGM for one of the evening shows & dinner. That would be fun! We love the "surreys" at the Beach Club; last May, had my 72 year old Dad and my DD8 pedaling and singing "Surrey with the Fringe on Top" at the top of their lungs. If that isn't Disney magic, I am not sure what is...

We have stayed at Cocoa Beach and Disney World before our cruises. We like staying at Disney better because there is so much to do. We were still at the port by 10:30 and enjoyed the easy drive to the Port from Disney World. I love the Caribbean Beach Resort, I feel like I am already on the Islands.
