I like to walk in the mornings and when staying at SSR it's fantastic. However, for part of our trip in November we're staying at BLT (our first time). Is there anywhere I can get a good walk in...like 3 miles? If not, I guess I'll just use the fitness room at CR.

You can walk around the Contemporary and the South wing, around BLT and over to Majic Kingdom and back. Maybe I'll see you there, we will arrive soon after. Have a good stay. :)

A good walk would be BLT to BTMRR ;)

Is it possible to walk to GF (on the brickway that was never quite completed?)

You can walk to the MK and back a few times to get to 3 miles. You can not walk to the TTC or the other monorail resorts with Disney's pathways. Once the boat is running to WL/FW you can take that over ther and walk the trail between the reosrts or around the campground.

I pretty sure you can walk from BLT to MK and go towards the monorail and follow the sidewalk towards the Grand Floridian further west to the inlet where they store the Electrical Water Pagent and back. That would only be .8223 miles one way. There's no bridge over that canal (inlet) that I can see.

I don't think there are sidewalks from BLT to the Poly. You could walk on the grass but the roads are pretty busy, it won't be a tranquil walk.

You could also ferry over to Ft. Wilderness and walk all of the trails there. And even walk back to Wilderness Lodge from there and ferry back to BLT.

BTW there are treadmills in the fitness center at CR that you can use while staying at BLT.

Personally I'd make an early breakfast reservation at MK and walk the park afterwards before the crowds come in. :goodvibes

Have the added BLT's jogging path yet? It was one of the upgrades announced last year.

I thought I saw something about a jogging path when there in Aug. I thought it was kind of weird since it's so isolated. Don't know how long it is, but you might be able to take a couple laps.

Also, you could take the monorail to TTC and get off there, walk to the Poly and around the grounds and continue on to GF. You'd have to get on the monorail one stop to MK and then get off again and continue back to BLT. I know that's silly because you get on the monorail, but still a thought.

Also there was a sidewalk at the light between BLT and MK. You're probably not supposed to go back there (toward CM parking, I assume), but you could go as far as you're comfortable and your mileage would increase.

Boats to/from FW and WL seemed slightly unpredictable and I would be afraid of being stuck there when I was done. Nothing like a 3 mile walk turning into a 2 hour transportation adventure.

Thanks for your replies. I was thinking about going to FW but as LoveKermit said, don't want to be stuck waiting for the boat, but maybe I'll try it once and see how it goes. If all else fails, I'll use the treadmills.

Walking in the parks, for me at least, is just a leisurely stroll and not a workout for me. I need that morning power walk to get me going.....kind of like how other people need coffee.

BLT features not one, but 2 weather protected lake view vertical jogging courses located on each end of the 'C' section - 16 stories each!! :rotfl2:

depends upon you

there is a jogging course at BLT/CR - it goes around the buildings. don't remember if it is on the current map.

the map that it is on is on the walking path between BLT/CR - going toward their lobby from BLT on the pathway

here are some maps

if you want to run on dirt instead of concrete then would go to FW on the boat.

Just MHO the fitness center at the CR is very small and unimpressive by comparison to the other fitness centers on property. It has NO windows to the outside world, and seemed dark, gloomy, and confined. I find that walking/running on the "dreadmill" is hard anyway, but to do so in a closed in environment would be miserable. Maybe as a last resort if it was pouring down rain, but otherwise probably not. I think the boat ride to FW is the best option for a power walk. You can walk for a few or many uninterrupted miles over there and can enjoy a natural setting through the petting zoo/barn area all the way back to WL. If you choose to go back and forth between BLT and MK you will have to stop at the stoplight and watch for oncoming traffic every time you cross. That would make the walk much less enjoyable to me. YMMV. Have a great trip!
