First of all I apologize if this has been asked...... We have gone to DW many times, however this is the first time staying at DVC. I just read a review on allears, how staying at one of these resorts as a "cash " guest is a big mistake. So here is my question, will we get all of the things like at a normal resorts etc toliteries, housekeep? Also this review stated that if you are not a DVC member you cannot go to the top of the world lounge or the club houses. So I gues what is the difference and will I be disappointed:confused3

sorry I just reread the questions....they rented dvc points and were upset because they had to pay for all the extras. However I still have the same questions, will it be just like staying at a regular resorts. I am just so nervous, we really need this vacation it has been a year of saddness in this family.

As a cash guest you will still get daily housekeeping. You will not be able to access the top of the world lounge.

I believe if you stay on "cash" through Disney you will get all the toiletries and daily mousekeeping. If you rent points from a rental broker or a DVC member you should still get all the toiletries but not daily mousekeeping. You will get a trash and towel day on the 4th day of your visit and a full cleaning on day 8 of your visit, just like any DVC member.

It used to be that Top Of the World Lounge is for the exclusive use of DVC members staying on points at BLT. Now all DVC members staying on points can access the lounge. You have to show your blue DVC Member card and tell them what resort you are staying at to get up to it. Sorry.

I am sure this is a dumb question, but how do you stay at DVC on "cash" vs renting points if you are a non-DVC member. I thought being a member or renting points were the only options?

Nope. You can rent a stay at BLT and all the other DVC resorts directly from Disney through Central Reservations.

I am a DVC member but would not want to pay the prices they charge. :rotfl2:

You can book by calling CRO or on the Disney resort reservation website. There aren't always many villas available but they do pop up from time to time.

I went to allears and read those reviews. Something is not right about paying for all the extras. Yes, if you are renting points and you want daily housekeeping or fresh towels everyday you will have to pay extra. The pillow/blanket or paper plates/plasticware......this is very hard to believe.

As DVC members, you are "home". The larger villas have washers and dryers so you can launder the towels if you need to. Having limited housekeeping helps to keep our dues low (they do go up every year). As for bags of garbage in the hallways, this must be from renters because they do have rooms for members to put their trash. I agree that stuff like that should be removed in a more timely manner but the staff should do a better job of letting the renters or cash payers know about the routine. People should at least know what to expect. If you want to stay at a deluxe resort, with all that that means, don't stay at a DVC resort. Like I said earlier, DVC is our home away from home, not a hotel.

I'm sorry to hear about your family's sadness. Hope this trip helps.

I agree. As is the idea that they were told to pay for having enough towels for their group. If they misspoke to the person they requested a towel from, I can see why they would be told to pay, but if explaining that there are 3 people and you need 3 towels shouldn't result in a charge.

But OP that won't be your situation if you are getting the room directly through Disney (not paying for points, but paying cash to disney). It will be treated just like a hotel stay.

Sorry you've had a rough year.

Thanks so much! Kinda of sad about the top of the world lounge:sad1: but understand! I am a little confused about the trash thing. Thanks for all the hugs about the sad year. A little over a year ago my brother passed away suddenly and left me some money so I am doing what he would have wanted me to do and spend it on the kids among other things. However we have not had the chance to go...my husband Aunt passed in June and his mom is with hospice right now (like I said rough year)

If you book your stay through Disney Reservation Center, you get a daily full cleaning that includes clean towels every day. If you book your stay through DVC, whether on points or cash, you get service every fourth day. If you stay seven nights or less, you get your trash removed and towels replaced on day four. If you stay eight nights or more, you get a full cleaning on day four and trash and towel service on day eight.

If you are not a DVC member staying on your DVC membership at WDW, you cannot go up to the ToTWL. In other words, your KTTW must say your are staying on DVC (whether points or cash). You have to show both the Blue member card and your KTTW.

So if you booked for cash through DRC, you won't be able to access the ToTWL. That is a member perk. But you will get anything else you need at BLT, access to the pool, daily cleaning, towels,

Since you are reserving a room from Disney and not a DVC member you will get the same treatment, housekeeping, toiletries, that all Disney resort guests do. Housekeeping will come daily.

As to other reviews, some people rent a reservation from a DVC member and they really do not know what they are getting and come away upset. That is due to lack of research on their part and lack of good communication from the member they rented from.

I am a little confused about the trash thing.

Further to what others have said, if people are leaving their trash around, it's because they haven't figured out that there are proper places to put it. Now I'm not 100% about Bay Lake (that's where we own, but we haven't yet stayed there), but the other DVC resorts we have stayed at have trash rooms that you just take your garbage to, if you have garbage before it's the day for housekeeping to come in. But there will always be people who don't bother to figure this out.
