We stayed at the Poly in Room 3916 in Tokelau. The resort was quiet that week; a CM said they closed 2 of the longhouses. We had a partial view of the lagoon, Contemporary, Space Mountain, and TTC, and we had a garden view. We didn't get our request, but we were glad we stayed in this longhouse instead. Our room was quiet for the first part, but then we got very noisy neighbors at the end, which made it unpleasant (are the walls thin there or were they just loud?). The room was big, and we called for a fridge, which they quickly brought up. They were putting coffee makers in the room a couple of days into our stay. I love the atmosphere at the resort. We watched the fireworks from the beach. We didn't get to try the pool because it was too cold for us. Being on the monorail was great; it was nice to come back for a break and be able to quickly get back to the park. We got to MK early on 2 mornings and no one was there so we did tons of rides (we rode Thunder Mountain 2 times each morning and got our own log on Splash Mountain). We could easily walk to the TTC from our room. I don't think the staff was that friendly, and we were disappointed about that (and we're friendly people). I've been wanting to stay at the Poly forever. I feel like you had to pay for concierge for a friendlier staff, and I don't think you should have to. The service just wasn't that great (and I don't expect concierge service, just better than what we got). The torch lighting ceremony was cancelled every night we were there because of the cold, and I had been looking forward to it. We only used our car once to drive to Boma, and we usually use our car a lot because we don't like waiting for buses.
Our longhouse wasn't really far from anything - TTC, GCH, pools. Yet it was quiet (except for the noisy neighbors). You could easily walk out to the beach. The hallways are huge.
Check your bill. When we got the bill under our door, they charged us the wrong rate - $90 more per night. They wouldn't fix it over phone so my husband had to do down to the lobby.
Overall, I liked the Poly - big rooms, like the bathrooms, good views, great atmosphere, love watching fireworks from the beach, love the island music you hear while walking around. But I didn't like the staff that much (it could've just been that time of the year) and hated the noisy neighbors. The staff seemed to be getting into the Christmas spirit on the day we left. I would definitely stay here again though, but I'm not sure my husband wants to stay again soon (but he really wants to stay at AKL so we're doing that in March).
