Stay Out of the Damn Lakes

They wander up into the parking lots quite often, particularly at Epcot and Hollywood Studios. I had one under my car when I got off work one evening.

I would've never even thought to look under the car! Hopefully you found it because it's tail was sticking out from under and not because you stepped next to the car and it tried to nip you! Now I know to be careful in the parking lots too geesh!!

I remember seeing several snakes near the haunted mansion A CM was there directing people not to park their strollers there. I assume they keep an eye on any unusual critters hanging about and do their best to keep them under control. I wonder if they have like an area to pen them until they release them outside park grounds

I certainly hope you are joking because to say you will never go to WDW any longer becuase there are gaters in the water is like saying I will never drive in a car again because thousands die in auto accidents every year. I will never eat again bacause hundreds choke to death every year. I will never fly, walk, go to a public event, etc. Disney is probably one of the safest places on earth with the security measures they have in place. You could always just hide in your home-oops, I forgot how many people die in house fires every year.

You have to remember that Walt Disney Workd was built on wetlands and it is Florida that being said Disney has staff that actulually watch for gators and they do have fish and game come in and deal with the problems. Even here is Geirgia we know if is nighttime stay out of ponds and lakes. Yes even golf course in our town has attracted a few gators through the years.

I took the bus tour at Kennedy Space Center a few years ago and was amazed at the size and number of some of the gators in the ditches. Clearly, they must have been an active and effective part of America's in situ security force during the Cold War. The unsung heroes of the Space Coast. Any spies or saboteurs skulking around in the swamp at o'dark-thirty would have had a very rough reception at Cape Canaveral.

Oh man, I never though about a snake slithering up into the basket under our granddaughter's stroller. I'm cutting it off. I've seen snakes all over the place at WDW

I was thinking of this when I saw a line of strollers parked at AK by a short wall with a lot of vines and leaves around it. The strollers were pushed right up to the vines and leaves.

Is this a water or land based snake we are talking about here? Can they "climb"?
Are they all poisonous?

I moved to Orlando from the Midwest for about ten years. Many culture shock stories but here's a good one: Wanted to take a little hike in the woods. Where I grew up all of the "woods" are bordered at some point by a major road or expressway roughly. About five yards into my walk in Seminole County, I encountered a spider web as big as me and a spider right in the middle about the size of my fist. Another thing I never encountered in the Midwest is fire ants.

If you play golf anywhere from the Carolinas to Florida there will be gators. In Central Florida, many expensive homes are built on manmade or natural lakes. Keep children and little dogs away from the shore, especially at night.

Just back from WDW, spotted 2 Gators, one in MK... about 3 ft and a baby in Animal kindom. In a feeder stream.... Not part of the Safari.

Also keep in mind that Walt's vision was to always have at least 1/3 of the land be a preserve so there will always be some amount of wildlife making it's way into the developed areas.

I saw a gator multiple times in MK right off the DSA in Frontierland. Saw another (or maybe the same one) while on the raft to Tom Sawyer's Island. I was not surprised at all and even pointed him out to DS. We are in their territory, they are drawn to/live in water. Being from the PNW and never having seen a gator in the wild I actually thought it was pretty neat.

Y'all need to go to the Alligator Farm in st Augustine, you will see very many alligators.
