Stay on hold? or call back?

Is it better to stay on hold or hang up and call back?

  • Stay on hold when you first get through

  • Hang up and call back hoping to get straight through to a person

  • Neither of the above

First try at getting Cindy's (this morning) didn't work. I called at 6:58 and they weren't open. Called again, 6:58:30, and was excited to get through. After being on hold for three minutes, I was too late.

I know the "directions" from the link posted here say not to hang up when you get through and get on hold, but I was wondering about everyone's experience on that.

Tomorrow I think I'll use two phones and stay on hold one the first one but hang up and dial again if I get that far on the second one.

What do you think I should do? What have your experiences been?

Stay on hold when I get through?

Hang up anyway and try to get straight through to a live person?

Or do you have another suggestion? (Getting someone else to help isn't an option; I can't even get them to commit to going to making a PS anywhere.)

DH & I made our first attempt for CRT yesterday. We both got through at 6:59am but were on hold until almost 7:05am. Of course, they were sold out by this time. We tried again this morning, and based on a tip read on the CRT thread here, we pushed "2" as soon as the recorded open message began. The line was immediately picked up by a CM, and we got our reservation. YIPPEE!! What size seating are you needing? Since DH and I both got through (no bashing, please, we were in different locations and didn't know the other had secured reservations), I'll be canceling one of our reservations sometime today. It's a table for 3 at 9:40am on 12/2. Thought I'd post this info on line with the hopes of benefitting a fellow DISer. :D

You stay on hold or you'll just end up in the cue farther back when you call back.

Angela, do you have the link of that thread about hitting '2'? I don't remember seeing that one.

Scottwdw,

I'm link posting impaired, so I've copied part of the post from the CRT Advice and Encouragement thread. The original post was made by Bobbie on page 6 of this thread. As this poster stated, this might just be a coincidence, but I've got a 3.5 year old little girl that made it worth taking a shot! :D

I read somewhere on the internet, that when you get through and it tells you to press 1 for Albert & Victoria's or hold for all other reservations. I read that you should push 2. Don't know if it was luck or concidence or what, but I was so thrilled to be able to tell my daughter that I GOT TICKETS when she came down the steps. So, if you are having trouble, it can't hurt to try it.

hang up and redial, while it is ringing I am redialing the other phone, keep going back and forth until phone number one gets thru. I am on hold. Phone number two gives me the not open message. HUH! But I just got thru on the other phone I am thinking. So I redial number 2 again and get thru and someone answers almost immediately. I get a PS for 9 people on OCt.14 for 8:05 am. PERFECT!
Not sure about that whole thing but the second phone about 15 secs behind the first was the one that got picked up first.
This strategy worked for me back in June as well. 2 for 2 so far!

Thanks, Angela, but I need 6. I usually check back about 3:00 in the afternoon (Eastern time zone), hoping to do the cancellation victory dance, but no luck yet. Maybe I shouldn't wait quite as long into the afternoon?
