Hello,

I have an opportunity to stay at a Marriott property using rewards points, but I am somewhat restricted in my options.

One option is to stay in Los Alamitos (costco nearby) at a Residence Inn on Katella ~ 7 miles away. Has anyones stayed here? Is it a reasonable distance to drive back and forth?

Another option is to stay at the Residence Inn Maingate, which is much closer, an older property, and a smaller room size.

Any thoughts?

We are planning our trip for late Sept, getting close, we are getting exicted :)

Los Alamitos is not far at all, but you will have to pay for parking every day that you're at the park.

I stayed at the Maingate about 10 years ago, and it was nice back then. I've heard people here say that they really like the Maingate.

Also, if you get tired midday and want to head back to the hotel for a rest/swim/change of clothes, you'll save a lot of time staying closer to the park.

We have stayed at the Maingate the last 3 years and love it.(Got back last week.) I am not sure where you get the smaller room size from. We will not stay any place else other than the GC(if we could afford it).

The Maingate only allows the use of points for a standard room, whereas the Los Alamitos allows me to use our points for a 2 bedroom.

I am checking to see if I can upgrade to a larger room at the Maingate, but I was told it is too early and to call back in September to check for availability and upgrade options.

Thank you for your feedback.

Sorry, I misunderstood the room size issue vs points. If you have any questions about this property please let me know.
