Maybe others have had a different experience and perhaps it was just the timing of our vacation, but last Sunday's evening EMH at the MK was the biggest waste of our time all week. We had a similar experience in January (MLK weekend) but DS14 still envisioned that the evening would be like the old E-Nights. He was adamant that we attend and didn't believe me when I said it was going to be crowded. Sometimes our kids have to learn lessons the hard way and now DS has vowed to never attend another EMH evening at the MK! (We didn't attend any other EMH parks- AM or PM - the rest of the week.) We planned to skip Spectro and the fireworks that night in hopes that the attractions would be less crowded. The only attraction that logic applied to was Buzz Lightyear that had a 15 minute wait during the fireworks. DH was sitting outside and the fireworks ended while we were on the ride. DH said that while we were on, masses of people were lining up and in a matter of minutes, the wait went up to 60 minutes. We did Stitch's Escape observed all wait times for attractions to be about an hour and decided to leave at around 11:30 PM. It was really curious that people were still arriving for the EMH at that time as we were exiting!
Just curious if anyone has had a good experience with MK PM EMH and what time of the year were you at the parks.

Sorry for your bad luck on timing.

Yes, I have had a great low-crowd time at MK EEMH with walk-ons to attractions. Last time I did this was mid-May this year.
Oddly, the night before (a Sat. with no EMH), MK was a zoo.

I have read many similar reports to YOURS and to MINE.
It simply changes all the time.

We did evening EMH at MK for the very first time this past February. We arrived at MK around 5 PM and the place was mobbed. Stayed that way until after the fireworks at 9 PM. Once people realized they couldn't get on the rides without a bracelet, the park cleared pretty fast. I would say that by 10:30 PM, almost all the rides were a walk-on. The only waits were for BTMR and Splash....but even these were only 15 minutes or so. It was cool to be riding Dumbo at midnight!

I would imagine that with all the people staying onsite with free dining right now, EMH's will be a nightmare this month.

We always go in Sept. and our EMH in the PM was absolutly awesome :cool1: . We sat on rides and never got off due to such low crowds :thumbsup2 With everything, it depends on timing and the day. I'm sorry you had a bad experience :guilty:

This sounds like the old E-Night type of crowds. I guess it depends on when you go. Summers seems to be a bad time for EMH. I thought this past January would have been a good time to go but again it was mobbed, probably due to it was a MLK weekend. Another factor that did not help this past week was there were no fastpasses available during EMH atthe MK which I think are usually available.

Just returned and tried EMH at EPCOT on Friday night. It wasn't worth it at all. Prior to EMH, we tried to go to Soarin and the wait was 90 minutes. I asked the CM if it would get better after 9 p.m. and he said it would get worse. It seemed the only rides open were Soarin, Test Track, MS, and Spaceship Earth. TT waits were at least 90 minutes. The parks were incredibly crowded. We never did get to ride Soarin or TT this trip. Bring back the old E-Ticket nights!

We were at EMH at MK on Sunday evening August 13th. It was not crowded at all.

We went on SM with a 20 minute wait, it was shorter really. We also rode Buzz, Pirates twice, Dumbo, carousel, Snow White, BTMRR and seen Philharmagic. We walked out of the park at about 1:15 and caught the bus back to POP got in before 2.

We probably could have done more but the family we were with didn't want to stay so we walked them to the front of the park, then they decided to let their DD stay with us so we had to get her a wristband.

Now the next night was another story, went to EMH at MGM :sad2: Never again. We went on RNR right after fantasmic, then waited over 40 minutes to see Ariel show. We ended up leaving early it was way to crowded.

Went to EMH at MK on a Wed. during the second week of Sept. last year. TOTAL ZOO! We were in the park during the day and there were no crowds at all, walked right on to pretty much everything but the Fantasyland stuff. We stayed till around 10:30, hoping the crowds would deminish, but they just got worse! Buzz: 60min.; SM: 90 min., and so on. People have to remember that the EMH park is the only thing open that night, so whereas during the day, you have crowds scattered throughout 4 parks, and 2 water parks, everone is crammed into one park for the EMH. They say it is only Disney Resort guests, but how many resorts does Disney have!?! Think about how many resort guests there actually are!

We avoid the parks that have EMH. They always seem to be crazy. This works for us.

My experiences have always been good with the evening extra magic hours. This past Feb. when I went, we had no problems at all. The longest wait was actually for Peter Pan, which was only about 10-15 min. I guess it just varies. On the flip side I do try to avoid parks that have the morning extra magic hours.

I was there that night! We didn't get there until 9:30 p.m. It nice to be there when it wasn't that hot or crowded. Like other posters, I think EMHs are just hit or miss. We were lucky that night. :)

We actually did better with the EMH's at MK and AK on our end of June trip. Parks were much crowded during the day so we waited for the EMH's to ride the big attractions. We walked on most of the rides. We got to ride EE 4 times in a row. We were up till 2am but it was worth it. Parks started clearing out about 12:30a-1:00a. I guess its because families couldn't keep the kids awake. It helped us enjoy our June trip a whole lot better. I guess it just all depends on timing. Hope it works as well 1st wk in Sept.

Same great experience here. We only go in September now. Best time of year!

We have had much luck with EMH (and in general) at the parks the past two years the very last week of August right up to Labor Day. We were at MK last year on a weekday last week of August and it was empty- we walked up to Small World at 10am and there were about 10 people on line, we rode it againa dn did everything in Fantasyland twice between 9 am and 11am. We are hoping for the same this year- we leave on Friday!

I have to agree with EMH's being hit or miss . . . everyone says the morning ones aren't bad, but when we were there last the morning ones were PACKED, and the one night one we did (Epcot) was completely dead after Illuminations. We were pretty tired, and though we would have walked right on any ride (and probably stayed on) we left.

I miss the E-nights as well. I'll never forget being asked how many times I wanted to go around on Space Mountain!

TEN!

Okay! *hits button*

I have heard another idea about EMH, if there is an evening EMH at Magic Kingdom tonight, skip MK altogether and go tommorow, that it will be slower, since everyone was there the night before.

Does this make sense and has anybody tried this?

We found the evening EMH at MK to be very crowded -- not at all like the empty morning EMH's. But as long as you don't expect too much from the evening (like no lines) it can be fun. It's kind of nice to be in big crowds at night, like New Year's Eve in Times Square, I guess.

We liked the Epcot evening EMH better, if only to have the chance to meander about Futureworld at night. It was very relaxing, not crowded at all.
