We're staying at POFQ for 10 days. Do you think we're crazy not to split it into 2 hotels? We've never been to POFQ before and have heard nothing but pros about it. My hubby doesn't want to waste half a day worrying about moving to another hotel. What do you think?

If there's another resort you're dying to try, I say go for it. We spit a 6 night stay between the Poly and CR and were glad we did. Two different experiences during the same vacation. And it took us hardly anytime at all to transfer to a new resort.

I am a big fan of splitting your stay and trying different resorts. Disney makes tranferring your bags a breeze. Each resort is very unique and a fabulous destination in their own right. I would suggest maybe splitting it up by staying in 2 different locales. For example staying at a MK resort and an EPCOT resort. That way you can tailor your park days to the easiest transportation. For example if you stayed at the POLY and Beach Club. While you stay at the Poly you may want to do more MK activities and when you go to the Beach Club concentrate on EPCOT and MGM activities. DOes this make sense?? Enjoy your planning and lets us know what you decide.

We did the split once, never again. I felt like all we did was pack and unpack the entire time. We did 12 nights at 3 different resorts (POR, Poly and DoubleTree Disney Plaza). The DoubleTree was for a conference but the other 2 were by choice. I love the idea of getting somewhere and just unpacking and not worrying about packing until we leave.

One the plus side, everything worked out well. Disney transported our luggage between resorts without a problem.

Good luck.

for us that is an easy question - arrive, unpack and STAY :earsboy: I travel on a regular basis for work often doing the new hotel every night so for me I love the idea of checking in kicking back and just being in Disney worry free for our entire stay.

I really enjoy splitting my stay, it gives me a chance to experience a whole other resort and it feels like you had 2 seperate vacations. I split it up everytime we go. Its really not a hassle, its all on the same property, we are always out of one place and in the other within an hour. Checkout is at 11, and lines for check in are usually very short (if theres one at all) at that time. Last time we did Wilderness Lodge and Caribbean Beach, next time Poly and Contemporary

We've split our stay for the past 2 years and will be doing it again in November. We actually look forward to it. It has worked well for us and there are 6 in my family. Our trip runs about 10-12 days and we feel like its more like 2 vacations than 1. I say go for it.

We always split our stay at WDW - it really makes it feel like two vacations. We do one Epcot resort and then one MK resort, and plan our park days to match the resort we are staying at. It does not take much time to move - and we hafve two DD's 4 and 6 - and it saves a lot of time when we want to go back to the resort to rest.

I also say to go for it.

We're splitting our stay, first AKL and then the Contemporary tower. It'll be two different experiences, and I can hardly wait since we've never stayed at either one before.

I'm not concerned about packing in the middle of the trip. How much effort goes into throwing things into a suitcase! And the resort transports the luggage...how much easier can it get.

We plan on checking out of AKL early in the morning, before 9 AM, getting over to CR and checking in early, and then get on the monorail for MK!

Which two resorts will I stay in next trip?? That's what's going to keep me in the Disney mode after this trip, planning my next!

I say split... With this condition.. Try to stay in two resorts of the same level... Don't stay in a resort for 5 days and then stay at a Value Resort or Off-Site for the next 5.. The let down totally stinks if you have to drop down in terms of the level of resort! I would split but make sure you stay in same caliber on both ends.. Like a Polynesian and a Boardwalk.. Never Poly to Pop Century.. etc...

I say split your stay!! ::yes:: We do it on almost every trip and we never stay for more than seven days. We usually do 2/4 or 3/3. I have to agree with the other posters you have to start with the lower scale hotel to the highest. We love splitting our stay , it makes it feel like an adventure. You know that feeling of excitement that you get when you first arrive at the hotel to check in, well, this way you get to experiment that feeling twice. The first time we did it, I made a Huge mistake!!! I unpacked for all 4 of us at the first hotel and then had to repack all over again to move to the other hotel  . That was an amateur mistake!! Now, I only unpack what we will be using at the first hotel and leave the rest in the bags. It makes my life a lot easier!!For our upcoming stay we have a reservation for 6 nights at POR, but, now I'm complicating things by moving to a different resort after 2 days at POR

Go ahead and split your stay. If you are on a tight budget, then try splitting your stay with the first few days at the Movies or Pop, then the remainder at the French Quarter (this is my favorite moderate). If your budget is a little looser, then do the first few days at POFQ and the remainder at the Wilderness Lodge. Splitting is not that difficult to do. If you are renting a car, then go ahead and check out of the first resort early, then head over to the new one and check in. If your room is ready, great. If not, then let them store your bags and head for a park. Doing this early in the morning keeps from wasting prime time in the parks. If you are not renting a car, then let the bell desk forward your luggage to the new resort. Just keep in mind that your luggage may not arrive until 3pm (probably sooner).

See my new thread above - You've convinced me to split too! these boards will be the death of my disney-budget! :) :) :)

I love the idea of starting at pofq and then go to the WL or AKL, but we're a family of 5! I'm dying to try the AKL, but I can't afford 2 rooms like we're doing at the moderate. I wish disney would give a 2nd room discount!!!
