We are flying into Orlando airport the day before we cruise. Is it better that we stay in Orlando area or else head on down closer to Port Canaveral?
Any suggestions on motels/hotels also in the areas?

Thanks!

If you're arriving any time before early evening, I like to head out to the port. You're that much closer and you can get that much more excited.

There are many port-area hotels to choose from. I have a summary at my web site...

If your flight arrives in the evening or late at night, you might as well stay near the airport as you'll be ready to sleep as soon as you arrive (especially if your flight is delayed).

I have a summary of airport-area hotels at my web site although most people try their luck with priceline.com or hotwire.com. You can usually get a decent hotel for about $30 via either of these sites.

Here's my airport-area property listing...

Wouldn't the MAW Foundation handle all of this for you? I would call them and see if they have already reserved a room for you somewhere.

Yes they are Pam...:)
I am just curious as to what everyone else does...thanks for inquiring.

There was just a thread on this a few days ago, but darned if I can find it. You might want to take a look a few pages back, as there were several different views.

It only makes sense that if you fly into MCO early to go ahead and head to PC. But if you get into MCO late the day before, then you should opt to stay where your at for the night.
My personal opinion is I would want to be close to that ship!!

Then I'll bet they have booked you a room in PC, close to ship so you won't have too much distance to travel on embarkation day.:D

We personally had the land/sea package when we did the Cruise.

I would think you would want to ask all of your questions of MAW - I am sure that they have this whole thing down pat, and would be able to give you better information on what the plans will be than we are.

Have fun! :D

I did ask MAW all my questions Bonnie....and they do have it downpat...:)
TY very much....
I am merely posting a few things here too ...;)

Thanks !! :teeth: And you have fun too! :wave2:

So now you have me curious, where did Make a Wish select for you all to stay? I would assume it either is a "suite type' hotel or they got you adjoining rooms due to your party size. The Amerisuites right near MCO is nice we have stayed there before.

We have stayed at the Amerisuites too...got 'em through Hotwire a few times for around $33. Our flight usually gets in late, so we get an MCO area hotel via Priceline ($25 to $28 for the highest star level) or Hotwire. They have free shuttles, and then Happy Limo hauls us to the port in the morning after a good night's sleep.

I dont' understand your quote above ~ you're "merely posting a few things here too" if you already know MAW is providing your hotel room(s). Did you check out Dave's site for a list of hotels at the port and at MCO?? Shouldn't you check with MAW and find out what hotel they've booked you in???

I simply asked if it is better to stay in MCO or close to PC.

:) I am sure maw will contact me with everything when planning is completed....

Have a good evening Jeanny!:teeth:

I'm STILL confused..... what difference does it make if any one thinks it's better to stay in MCO or close to PC? Sounds like you should just take what MAW gives you. Do you have ANY input as to what hotel they give you??

Kathy - which MAW chapter has sponsored your DD's wish, and which one is coordinating it from receiving end?

I have a friend who is very involved in MAW, and I am sure she would help if you are having difficulty with them pinning down the details. My understanding is that you will have few choices about things like hotel & transportation. MAW gets a package, and that's what you get. Your wish volunteer should have explained all the details to you. I am kind of surprised that they haven't, since your trip is in just a month or so.

With being well inside the 60 day mark at this point, I would HOPE that MAW has this together already. Details like hotel, flight, etc. aren't the sort of thing that's best left to the last minute...

Aren't you on the Christmas cruise? That's only few weeks away. How can you not know the details yet?

Do you have flight information yet? What about cabin #s and dining times?
