Stay at CR or WL with no rental car, or stay at a Mod with rental car?

This will be my second trip to the World.

First trip was in December, we stayed at the Poly, arrived in a rental from the few days at ILs and dropped it off immediately at Car Care Center.

This next trip will be a 100% Disney trip, so we were planning on staying at CR or WL using Disney transport.

Then it occurred to me we for the same price, we could stay at a Moderate and rent a car for transport everywhere but the MK. Or maybe even including MK, although that doesn't sound convenient.

Most days we plan to be at the park at RD, so I'm not overly concerned about finding a good spot at AK, DHS or EP. We plan to take breaks during the day, sometimes returning to a park, sometimes not.

How bad is the parking at parks when you return to a park in the afternoon?

Pros of having a car:
We can eat off site conveniently.
We can go to a grocery store to get big gallons of water (I hate hotel water).
We can get to 3 of the 4 parks more quickly

Cons of renting a car:
Cost
Transporting car seats for our 6 year olds

Overall, given the option of a monorail resort with no car, or a moderate with a car, what are the pros and cons?

If it's 100% Disney, I vote WL with no car. We stay at the WL as often as we can. We Never rent a car when staying at Disney Resorts. Relax, take it all in. If you can't live without those Gallons of Water, make an order with gardengrocers

It really depends on what sort of vacation you'd rather have. I also suspect that the Mod plus a rental car will ultimately end up being less expensive than a Deluxe, but if both are in the budget, then you can consider both of them.

The one thing to keep in mind about Disney transport is that even at a Deluxe, *nothing* is close to *everything*. CR and WL will be close to MK, but not to anything else. The monorail from CR to EP is fun, but not exactly fast. On the other hand, if the convenience to MK is really important to you---or if you just like those resorts a lot better---then you might rather stay up there and forget the car.

I've never had a problem with parking, even in the afternoons. You do often have to take the tram in, but that's not super inconvenient. On the other hand, even when I have a car, I rarely if ever eat offsite. It's not that hard to do in absolute terms, but to me it feels difficult to leave the "bubble".

If you are going to want more than just water, you can also just order it from Garden Grocer or We Go Shop. It will cost you a little bit, but might be helpful.

I agree with the above posters. I never get a rental car at Disney. My parents did it in the past but that was before Disney transportation really took off.

I like to relax and not worry about driving around, fighting the traffic, ect... It feels nice to be carted around for once especially since I do all the driving at home.

I say WL and no rental car.

Thank you everyone!

I stayed at the Poly last time, and I didn't find the Disney transportation horrible except for a couple of snafus because of....wait for it.....monorail was down.

I think we will find the transport to be fine at WL, with a boat to MK and buses everywhere else.
