Stationary seats on Star Tours or Body Wars??

I read that you can request a stationary seat (no simulator action) or Star Tours at MGM and Body Wars at Epot. I don't remember ever hearing this before. Can anyone confirm this information?

I had this on Body Wars. I was on a tour at the time and was the only one not going. They set me and the guide up in the room to the far right. When I questioned it I was told in the future to ask, if it is not crowded (ie all rooms were not being used at that time) they will gladly accomodate.

I once read in a WDW guidebook (can't remember which or I would give credit) that you could ask CMs to take a ride on Star Tours in some sort of maintenance mode. This would eliminate all of the motion simulator technology, and you would basically be able to view the film and other effects.

Not sure how much longer your wait might be for them to accommodate the request.

There isn't a stationary seat.
The ride is a theater car and the whole car either moves as a flight simulator (during a normal show) or it doesn't move at all (during a movie only show).
If you want to go on a movie only, non-motion version, go when the ride is not busy and ask the first CM that you see if it is possible. There is a specific name for it (which I can't remember right now - it might have been maintenence mode ot a test mode). You don't need the name though, if you ask if it is possible to ride with no motion, the CMs will know what you are talking about.
You may be able to ride with a short wait, or they may tell you a time to come back. Basiscally they take a car that is functional, but not being used and turn off the motion components to just show the movie.
