Stateroom question - pull down bunk

Knowing that when I'm finally able to book my cruise in October 2017 I'll need to pick my stateroom, is there an easy way to tell if a room has a upper berth pull down bed?

We're a family of three, but my daughter would like really like to have that bunk bed like experience. I'm thinking I can start to book on the website as a party of four, but I was hoping to look at the ship layout with my family to decide on a section we'd like to stay in so we know what to do when we can finally book.

(I should also probably find out if there is a weight limit on those berths - she's going to be 12 when we cruise....)

Thanks in advance!

We booked on the phone and they were able to tell us, but I don't know if you can see it online.

We tried this with our daughter -- once. She was 18.....and hated it. Of course, it did not help that when she decided to sleep up there when we had a rough seas night and she felt the rocking and rolling and really didn't like it. Your daughter might find it fun -- is it on one of the new ships with the stars on the ceiling? Our experience was on the Magic.

FWIW our DD at 12, 14 and 16 never did like the pull down and always slept on the Murphy bed (5th bed) in both the deluxe family and deluxe veranda when we've sailed with her (her younger brother taking the convertible sofa).

What ship will you be sailing?

Here is a thread with a list of Dream/Fantasy staterooms indicating how many each sleeps and what beds:

My understanding is that similar info for the Magic/Wonder was available in an older version of the Passporter Cruise Line book, if you happen to have one or maybe your local library does.

Enjoy your cruise!

The upper berths hold up to 220 pounds.

Thanks! One more thing not to worry about.

We'll be on the Fantasy. Thanks so much for all the info - I read more than I ask/post, but I really appreciate all the information I get from everyone.

We finally let our dd14 get the upper bunk on our last cruise as her older sister, dd16, always claims it. Dd14 hated it. She thought she was going to fall off each night. Dd16 is very happy she gets the upper bunk back this year. Everybody's different ☺️

We have this weird (or maybe not so weird?) arrangement where we take turns picking a vacation. She wants a cruise*, and I'll try to accommodate what I can for her within reason. She thinks she'll love the bunk, so we'll see!

*Cruise was her idea, Disney cruise was mine. :)

Of all the wonderful things on dcl, that upper berth is dd8's favorite thing. It is slightly difficult to be sure which rooms have one though.
