Michigan folks,

When and where is the state fair?

DS moving to East Lansing Aug 21. Hope it's not that week. I am trying to firgure out why most of East Lansing's hotels are filled for that weekend.

Michigan State Fair is in the DETROIT area. not near East Lansing.

My son goes to MSU and I can venture a guess that the reason the rooms are booked is that it is move in weekend on campus so a lot of parents drive up to move their students in!

I was also going to say that it is probably the weekend the students start moving in.

Have you tried the Hampton Inn in Okemos? I believe there is also a Fairfield Inn in Okemos and a Holiday Inn Express. Okemos is about a 3 minute drive from campus.

There's three hotels in Charlotte which is a 15-20 minute drive to the Lansing area. Holiday Inn and Comfort Inn and the Super 8 (which I would NOT recommend.:p )

btw.....is your DS still at MSU right now 'cause we will be up there tomorrow pm as my DS will be auditioning for a band camp that MSU is holding this week. I will be driving him up there every day this week. :D

As we speak, my son is driving home from his summer job at MSU working AOP. He was one of the students that helped the incoming new students at orientation and to get registered.

He moves back up in a couple of weeks as a mentor (FKA RAs) at Hubbard

Thanks everyone,

Thanks for the info.

Kitty, DS and DH are driving to Michigan Aug 21. He starts grad school orientation Agu 23 full days all that week.

I am hoping to ride along too to help him settle him, but it's looking iffy for me that week.

I did get a room for DH at the Kellog Center on campus. The price was right and we stayed there in May.
