Hi, I used to scrap booking a few years ago but stopped due to moving and trying to get settled in.

Dh just bought me a Cricut Expression for my birthday!:cool1: (lol it's not til september). I wanted to know what should I buy for it. My big bug comes with two carts and I think a mat or two but what else will I need. Also what kind of paper can I use.

I was at hobby Lobby today and the cricut paper for the expression was expensive:scared1: . Can is use regular card stock?

Thank you
Sabrina

Yep you can use regular cardstock, paper, vellum, etc....

Check out the cricut website. www.cricut.com and look at the products section. If you click on the carts you can see all the ones they have. All of the carts work on both machines.
So say you look at cursive 101, click on that one and on the right you'll see a peach box and one of the lines says cart handbook. You can see the books that come with the carts in a PDF format. Check those out for ideas for different carts you might want.
I'm a fairly new owner of the Cricut and I would suggest buying more mats. They do not hold up long. Also baby wipes, I use mine to wipe the mat down after I use it and it cleans them really well and it seemed to restore a bit of the stickiness on my mat.

Also check out the Cricut message board at the same site. Lots of helpful tips and nice people.

You will need adhesives to put your pieces together. I have used tape, glue pens and my small xyron. I think I will be asking for the big xyron for Christmas.

You will also need some sort of tool to help get the pieces off of the mat. I use my CM all purpose tool. Cricut makes a spatula tool that I have read good things about.

I use little tiny wiggle eyes when I make animals from the Animal Kingdom cart. I also use Stickles glitter glue to decorate as well as fluid chalk ink pads --- none of these things are necessary.

You will need lots of paper -- really any kind. Construction paper does not work so well in my opinion. Save your scraps for cutting small things.

Definitely visit the cricut.com message boards. I think it helped me to see the work that others have done with their cricut!
