I know it's kinda different because I'm in the UK.....

But has anyone uprooted and moved abroad at a post-college age?
I'm due to graduate this year and lots of people in the UK move abroad as they get older. They sell their homes and businesses and start again abroad.

I wondered if anyone's ever done this from the very beginning. I often think about me and BF starting our life together somewhere else, I hate ENGLAND! So rather than buying a house and finding grad jobs here, while we've got no ties, I often think about doing all this abroad.

Did anyone do the same thing?

Funny you ask this, because I am a US citizen, but plan on doing what I can to move to England (London area) permanently. (I am a 2nd-year uni student currently, also dating a Brit.) Many UK firms (in the consulting industry, which I want to go into) will sponsor work permits for their graduate training schemes. I am undecided as to whether I want to apply to those straight out of undergraduate uni or go on to do a postgrad course and then apply, but I know I want to be here. (Have been here several months doing a term abroad, and I am happier here than I have ever felt anywhere else, boyfriend aside!) Before I graduate, I am also taking a term off next autumn to work here (US university students are able to get work permits for the UK for 6 months at a time.)

Is there such thing as a government sponsored 'swap'? ;) Think they'd invent one for us?

I'm a Londoner! Where do you live in London?

Would make life a bit easier, wouldn't it! ;) :)

I am living right near Russell Square in the Bloomsbury area, here until mid-Dec.
