Hi all,
I am starting a new part time job tomorrow and I am so nervous already. I had a hard time sleeping last night. I guess that I just hope that I "fit in" with this company. I am afraid that I won't "pick up" everything right away and will look stupid. I know that I will be receiving a lot of training, but I am still worried. Wish me luck....

Hi all,
Thank you all for the good wishes. I started my job today. I now know exactly what I am in for. I am very happy. I WILL be a good fit for the company and I am not so nervous any longer. It is a very demanding position, but everyone in the company is there to help and from what I gathered today, even though they work very hard, they have fun. For the next few weeks (while I am on probation), I will only be working 4 days a week at 5 hours a day. Perfect to get my feet wet. Thanks again for all of your encouragement.

I got a fortune cookie once right before I started a new job I thought I could never do...

"If THEY can do it, you know YOU can!"

Congrats on the new job!!! In this market it's a blessing just to have one!! :goodvibes

You'll do FINE!!! :thumbsup2

Congrats on the new job! I went back to work 4 months ago after being home for 11 years. I just got promotion. You will do great! The fact that you are nervous means you care about doing a good job.

We all feel that way starting a new position. You will do fine. Ask questions, go with the flow, smile and be nice to everyone you meet.

Thanks for the encouragement everyone. They actually e-mailed me today welcoming me to the company and letting me know what I need to bring with me tomorrow. They really seem like a great bunch of people to work with (unlike my last job). I will update again tomorrow.

Good Luck and you'll be fine!

Guess we were both up last night because of our jobs. The only difference I have been with mine for a few years :)

They hired YOU and I am sure there were a lot of people applying given the job market. You'll do great!!

Let us know how it goes.

Congrats on the new and good luck! I bet after your first day you will wonder what kept up worrying because it will go so smoothly!

Don't be too hard on yourself and remember all new employees have a learning curve until they are fully trained - you were selected and they are happy to have you!

First day of my current job, I was nervous (coming to my field after a two-year hiatus). Went for orientation, survived. Stopped to fill my tank on the way home. BAM! The fool pulling in as I'm pumping hits the gas and slams into my car. Fortuitously, aside from my carefully picked "first day" outfit reeking of gasoline, all was fine. :lmao::lmao:
Did help calm my nerves for the next day, though.

I was so nervous the night before my first day teaching! I had a dream that my principal allowed me to keep a giant killer whale in my classroom and let me feed "bad" kids to it. The whale was named Sherman.

As long as when you get to work there isn't a large killer whale waiting to eat YOU, you should be just fine!!
