We have stayed at AKL a few times but my sisters kids never have and probably won't again (at least not until they are older). They will be 13 and 10 at the time of our trip. Since I know my sister won't take her family on the Starlight Safari, my wife and I were considering booking this for us and our nieces as their birthday gift. The only time that would really fit into all of our schedules is the night of their arrival day (they are driving) at 8:30. Is it still light out on the savannahs at 8:30 towards the end of August? Does the natural light that is left at that time make the night vision sort of obsolete? We wouldn't want to book the 10:00 safari since it is their arrival day and we have PPO breakfast at TH the next morning.

Any other thoughts or opinions are welcome :D

TIA! :goodvibes :thumbsup2

You will probably be fine. I don't know what date you are looking at, but the further into August you go, the darker it will be earlier at night.

If you look at sunset and civil twilight times on this chart, it should give you a pretty good idea of when it will be dark on the night you go. Even if you start at 8:30 pm, chances are it will get pretty dark quickly into your safari time: https://www.timeanddate.com/sun/usa/orlando?month=8
