A bit of info for anybody with a Starbucks card. I bought mine on the Gold Coast and loaded the cash on it there as I go there often (I have an addiction to the Gingerbread Frappuccino around Christmas time).

I went to a Starbucks here in Anaheim this morning and I used my Starbucks card from Australia. I don't know what the exchange rate was, but I paid for my coffee and they gave me my balance in US$ that was left on the card.

They said that I can top it up here too and the balance I can use in Australia.

Just handy to know if anyone goes to Starbucks in Australia and has a card and happens to have it with them when overseas. You can use it at any store in the world.

Interesting you mention that. I bought a Starbucks card in Melbourne and loaded it with $50 shortly before I moved to the US in May 2009. I didn't get to use up all the credit before I moved. A number of Starbucks locations near me (Chicago) wouldn't accept a card with non-$USD on it, and I've been stuck with a Starbucks card with AUD on it that I can't use. I wonder if it's just certain locations that won't do a USD$1 to AUD$1 swap, or if they've changed their policy. Either way, it's good to know that there's *somewhere* I can use my Aussie $ Starbucks card! :cool1:

I used my Aussie card at several Starbucks in Southern California and they all accepted the card that I'd bought and loaded in Australia, was never a drama.

Prisstina - perhaps you could check a different Starbucks. We have used our Aussie bought Starbucks card in the US with no problem. Likewise, we also have a US Starbucks card and have been able to use that in Australia without any issue either.

I'm amazed that we still have any Starbucks locations in Australia!!!

It's always my first stop in Bali, Asia or the USA...Thanks so much!

I'm a Starbucks Gingerbread addict!

And I know they release the Christmas flavours earlier in the US than they do hear in Oz.

Only 2 weeks to go until I'm be having my first Gingerbread Frupp or Latte for the season.

Oh I am SOOOOO jealous :rotfl: I was actually just talking to a friend today about the Gingerbread Frapp and how I was counting down the days until it comes back! I am totally addicted to it!

You know after the promotion finishes in the store, many of them still have the syrup under the counter. Even though it finished in Janurary here, my local Starbucks had the syrup until April (when it went past it's used by date and they couldn't use it anymore!). So always ask after they've finished to see if they still have some hiding somewhere :thumbsup2

I resorted to buying a bottle of the syrup off Ebay once! :coffee:

Interesting. Hopefully I can use it in California in November...and I'm going to give it another try at one of my local stores again.

OT: Just seeing the "Melbourne, Australia" in your location info is making me a wee bit homesick. ;)

Thank you for this post, aussietravellers. You have answered a query I had. Now, I can get a loaded Starbuck's card for my DM for Christmas. I'm sure she wouldn't mind a detour to the Main Street Bakery in May! ;)

I can tell you that we are not much warmer than Chicago. We have had a rather cold, damp and windy Spring. Hopefully, we'll have a few picnic-weather days to come. But, I'm not holding my breath.
