Starbucks, Alamo and walking path @ Shades of Green!

If you are staying at the Grand Floridian or Polynesian, be sure to check our Shades of Green - especially if you like to walk. There is a lovely paved trail.

I just returned from a 4 night trip at the Grand Floridian DVC Villas. My son and I needed to drive to Fort Lauderdale for a visit with family and our return flight from FLL.

I explored all car rental options - as we normally rent from Hertz. I would have 1) taken the Magical Express to MCO to rent a car, 2) used UBER to take me off-site to the nearest Hertz rental office or 3) rent from inside the WDW property.

Surprisingly all options were priced at about $66 per day.

I opted for option 3 and it was a great experience. Shades of Green is a lovely walk - all paved - .7 miles from the DVC Villas at the Grand Floridian. It is literally across the road from the Polynesian!

About 2 weeks before my trip I rechecked the prices and I was thrilled to see the rates had dropped by 50%. I immediately cancelled my original reservation and rebooked at $33/day with a one-way drop off at FLL Airport.

I love to walk and enjoyed the path to Shades of Green. In addition, their coffee shop sells Starbucks coffee.

I did the same thing from BCV a few years ago. I had a nice walk over to the Dolphin and did a one way rental with Alamo. After I checked in at the counter, someone brought the car right up at the valet area and I was on my way. I'd rent onsite again for the convenience, even if it were a little more expensive.
