Star Wars Weekend...to go or not?!?

Now that Star Wars weekends were extended, we will happen to be there. My husband is a big Star Wars fan and my DS11 also enjoys Star Wars. My question is...how crowded does Star Wars Weekend get in comparison to regular mid June crowds? We've never vacationed to WDW in summer, but know it will be crowded compared to our usual end of October crowds.

Those that have gone, do you feel it is worth the crowds? We are traveling with our 4 children, DS (11, 9 and 2) and DD (9). We will be with a stroller in tow. DS2 first trip.

Thanks in advance for your experiences.

We went for the first time last year on Sunday May 19, crowded but not too bad. Son (8) and I are the SWs fans but we all watched the movies before our trip so even my wife and daughter were into it. In fact my daughter (10) brought things from home in a small pouch to trade with the Jawas (little brown robed trader guys). They both did the build a droid and got some nice pics with the SWs chars. We didn't worry to much about the other attractions just kinda took the sights in.

Overall I would recommend it especially if you have a second day to spend in HS on a non-sww.

It will be crowded, but it is a blast. Autographs can really be long waits, but we did not care for autographs, so that helped. Make your plans to do the SW stuff that is not available at other times. There are special shows, parades, entertainment, and events all day long. You will see costume characters walking about, as well as regular folks dressed. We did take the time to have photos with both characters and Disney characters as SW characters.

We almost skipped this our first time because we thought it would be too busy. Major mistake if we had done this. As long as you are not worried about jumping rides, and even that can be done because a lot of folks are there for SW not rides. Great shopping at Darth Mall.

DO IT

If you have family members who are real Star Wars fans, then yes, it is absolutely worth it. Everyone in my family is a fan, and we had a blast. Our 2 boys (6 and 3 at the time) loved seeing the characters - even just the ones walking around. We didn't get any fastpasses for celebrities, so I can't comment to that. I had only been to WDW one time before and that was years ago for a conference, so it wasn't even a real vacation, so I don't know about crowds. Yes, it was crowded, but we were still able to see a lot and do a lot. We even got the kids signed up for Jedi Training (we did get their at rope drop and went straight there first). I have to say I was a little disappointed with the merchandise that was sold, but we were there the last weekend, so that may have been why and we did bring home some neat things for the boys. It was so much fun. I would love to go back again, but it was so hot that weekend that I don't think I would go back at that time of the year again (heat + humidity is too much for me).

Sounds like my husband and son would have a great time. Perhaps assigning two days to DHS would be best...one for SWW and one for regular DHS attractions.

Thanks everyone for your input.
