An x wing show would be fabulous, just more Rogue Squadron versus alphabet style squadron writing would be nice.

Alphabet squadron let me down.

Every single book I've read in the new Canon just makes me feel like the book is connecting this dot to that for to the other dot. The characters just feel a lot more wooden to me. Whereas I loved rogue and wraith. The characters felt real and relatable

That's what I'm saying. Movies have been using the same formulas forever.

The Force Awakens WAS A New Hope (practically shot for shot LOL). So what? It was fun. Does it make The Lion King less enjoyable because it's Hamlet? Was RoS less enjoyable because of its similarities to Endgame?

Meh. Sometimes I think I'm the only one who can just enjoy a movie as entertainment. Must be why I drove my film professors mad. I HATED Citizen Kane. The Godfather was boring.

I like the Money Pit...that is my answer to that. :rotfl2:

I'm having a stroke at "The Godfather was boring", but yes, to each his own.

Have you Read Phasma or Black Spire Outpost? I think Vi Maradi is one of the better characters to come along in a while and I really enjoyed those books

I drive my husband (the film buff) mad with that. The Family Guy episode where Pete goes on his anti-Godfather rant was the funniest thing we ever saw. I swear Seth McFarland must have been in our house listening to us argue when he wrote it.

The one I get a ton of flack for is 2001: A Space Odyssey. What a sleeping pill! As a sci-fi buff and general nerd-type I am supposed to love that movie, but I just don't.

I forced myself to watch The Godfather because I hadn't seen it due to thinking it wouldn't be my cup of tea. WRONG, I absolutely loved it and even read the book.

I tried to listen to the audio book of black spire outpost. I just couldn’t do it made about a third of the way through. Dawson’s writing is pretty bad I thought.

Agreed. The torment of that one. Concept is great, but a snoozer.

I'm not much of a Rogue One fan... I'd much rather watch the original trilogy IV, V, VI, or IX, or Mando. I get why it's popular, but just not my cup of tea, but I did like it better than Solo. I will say, however, that RO has one of my favorite characters in it; Chirrut.

Chirrut is awesome. "I'm one with the Force; the Force is with me."
I loved Rogue One and thought Solo was fine. They did better with the stand alone movies, imo, than the trilogy. Maybe the level of fan expectation wasn't as high.

Yeah, writing isn't the best but I liked the characters and overall story and I think I just liked getting background on Black Spire Outpost before we go visit

It's the best of all the Star Wars movies.

Yea way up there for me as well.

Now if I could take the time to watch the whole thing again, instead of getting impatient and forwarding to the end scenes-best ever IMO.

It makes New Hopes crawl from 1977 even more amazing than it was then.

There are a lot of rumors floating around that what we got on screen wasn't what JJ wanted to put out and that he didn't really sign of on the final cut. When I first saw this I kinda chalked it up to normal Corp/Creative differences blown up for the sake of click bait but I read a bit more and if it's true it's pretty messed up. John Boyega's recent Twitter posts and responses also indicate he might have had some issues as well. Maybe one day they'll be a JJ cut released lol.

I think they should make Rogue one episode 7. Make the Force Awakens episode 8 and forget they even made the last jedi and end it with 9 of course. Then the Skywalker series would be just about perfect.

Rogue One wouldn't make sense as episode 7 because it is the lead up to A New Hope (we even see Leia on the same ship at the end of the movie as she is on in the beginning of 4).

I think I'm in the minority for liking all of the new Star Wars content. I even enjoy the prequels if I look past the bad dialogue (I do think Revenge of the Sith is a great movie). Yes there were some continuity issues in the sequel trilogy, but I enjoyed them all as a Star Wars fan and they tackled different things. I'm excited for what else they produce in the Star Wars universe.

Yeah, I was iffy on the book too. (Though Vi is an interesting character) It just read too much like a corporate commercial a lot of the time. A Crash of Fate (Galaxy’s edge #1) was better imo.

Same. I'm just glad I'm not as invested in these movies as some people seem to be. They seem much more enjoyable when you don't sit there and nit-pick each movie to shreds. All of the movies are fantastic when you're just looking to be entertained.
