KaptKaveman's summary has somehow made it less painful to process the disappointment.

This also made me feel better:

Holy Cow! This guy nailed it. I'll have to check out his other movie reviews.

Also from his review I totally forgot to include the Yoda part in my earlier comments. As much as I like Yoda(the head cover on my Callaway Driver is a Yoda), since when can you call down lightning as a force ghost? If this is really a thing shouldn't he have whipped this ability out in ... I don't know... say .... Return of the Jedi to kill the emperor while he was napping? Also he seemed to tap Luke on the forehead with his cane as well? This seems unlikely even in the universe of Rian Johnson physics.

Did Snoke calling out Kylo for being a cosplay Vader bug you?

As odd as it sounds it bothered me I can tell you that. Anybody knows that a good costume helps to strike fear in the hearts of the people you are trying to subject to your will. Certainly better than Adam Driver running around with a shoe lace stuck to his face for parts of the movie. Who was Snoke to talk anyways? The guy looked like Hugh Hefner sitting around in his gold sequined bathrobe. Though I guess I shouldn't complain as that 5 minute throne room scene was the high point of the movie for me.

Although..... since I brought it up..... that scene was somewhat silly as well. Considering you have two of the most powerful people in the galaxy struggling with a handful of imperial guards. I mean Kylo Ren stopped FREAKING LASERBEAMS with the force in the seventh movie but somehow he and Rey had trouble with some of the same guys Hans Zarkov and Flash Gordon (Quaterback, New York Jets) handily beat down 35 years ago.

I thought TLJ was a lot of fun.

It seems the Last Jedi is missing the additional family ties that made Star Wars a great “Space Opera”

I can understand not liking it but man some of the comments here I just don't understand.

Um, Star Wars has never taken physics and reality into account in everything they do. Would bombs actually fall in space? No, but a lot even in the originals wouldn't actually happen in space.

Star Wars was never intended to be a best picture nominee. Both JJ Abrams and Rian Johnson are Star Wars fans they know and understand what came before the new trilogy. JJ especially is a Star Wars nerd.

If we go back and nit pick episodes 4-6 there are issues with those as well but at the time they captivated their audiences and drew them into this universe. Imagine the first film being released today.
“Why is the milk blue? Why don’t the my just text the plans to their rebel base? Why is everything in this drab black and grey pattern? Why does the Death Star have ZERO HANDRAILS?!?!?!? (Ok the last ones mine, but their lack of compliance with OSHA does irk me a tad :smooth:

let me explain.

Star Wars didn't end for me on the Moon of Endor but it sure seems like it might have ended on whatever the heck planet Luke was on when he took the lightsaber from Rey and chucked it over his shoulder. I found that part to be highly symbolic of the way the director treated the previous 8 movies and fans of those movies.

Bravo. Well said. This is the best thing I read in this entire thread.

But the person who asked the question was Han Solo. We all know what happened to him. So, if he isn’t alive, maybe we will never know. :D

Please don't remind me. It still Hurts. Oh Han.:sad: I actually liked the way they did it and liked TFA in general. But man it still hurts.

Darn you Kylo. I will see you in HECK.:mad::mad: (This is the Disboards, I can't curse.)

Exactly...if we are going to complain about that, then let's talk about: the sound of Tie Fighters and other space ships in space; Blood from an arm cut off by a light saber in one movie, no blood in any others...Twin suns...asteroids colliding causing flashes of light...Sublight travel is slow, and to go even the typical length of a system would take years yet the falcon goes from the Anoat system to Bespin in a matter of hours/days.

And let's talk about the silliness that is the Battle of Yavin...They tracked the rebels to a moon on the far side of planet Yavin...so they orbit the planet in their station that can destroy whole planets...ummm, I'm not General Patton of anything but...just blow up Yavin from where you are at...the moon would be wiped out as well...or if not, hit it once the planet was blown out of the way.

And if the Falcon was drawn into the station earlier in the movie by a tractor beam...why worry about sending out fighters to hit the X-wings evading the turbo lasers, just turn on the tractor beams and pull them in, execute the pilots when they land.

Lest we forget explosions/fire can’t happen in a vacuum, so so much for all that great cgi carnage at the beginning of episode 3

Have you considered a career with the empire? We need more troopers that think like you :darth:

Man this thread is getting really funny at this point. Again, I wasn't a huge fan of this movie, but man, the things people are upset about (I think it really hurt not having the same director do this as you lose the vision). And I get he idea that it really just ignored a lot of TFA. But I mean seriously, the 20 second spear fishing thing got you mad?

So, I watched TFA again last night. This idea of him leaving a map to where you can find him isn't really correct unless I missed something. It was a map to the first jedi temple, which is where Luke went.

reminds me of one post I saw that said "people are really focusing a lot of energy complaining about plot holes and small details for a movie that involves space wizards that fight with colored glow sticks"

Just saw it last night. I didn't care for it much. It didn't feel 'fun' for some reason. My husband, who really isn't a big SW fan, really liked it. I thought that was interesting. We both thought TFA was too similar to ANH, though we both thought it was fun. We both really liked Rogue One, it's our favorite movie in the entire Star Wars universe.

The whole Republic falling so fast because of the capital's destruction and only one Mon Calamari cruiser is all that's left? It just seems too convenient, though I know it's all to make the rebels/resistance the 'little guy' again to set up the next movie. I know a lot of this is fleshed out in the novels and really don't expect it to be re-hashed for the movie. I actually liked the fact the crazy scheme Poe and gang came up with didn't work. I liked Holdo and Leia being the adults, Kylo being a 3D character, etc. I really liked a lot of the film, but some of it felt poorly written.
