Too soon? ;)

Not really all that thrilled with the teaser released today.

Really? HE HE (I'm kidding)

I rather enjoyed it :thumbsup2 The Falcon my dear the lovely cool Falcon.

Whether the film will live up to the fun or leave me disillusioned yet again. (Darn you Phantom Menace.) is up to fate and JJ Abrams

I don't mind the trailer dissection more what I'm dreading is seeing the Walt Disney Pictures logo before it. I think that may drive a lot of Star Wars fans away, at least ones that aren't Disney fans.

I'm worried about this:

It will not feel like Star Wars without the extended 20th Century Fox music before it.

Personally I thought it showed too much for the first trailer...i think it would have been better with less footage of the ships and the two characters...maybe just stick to the dark images of the storm troopers and the lightsaber scene (which upon first viewing didn't care for the crossbar/guard as it wasn't as cool looking as the first time you saw Darth Maul ignite his 2nd blade, but it is growing on me a little bit)...also I'm curious about the soccerball droid and if that was just some of the first cgi footage they have completed and needed filler or if this new little droid will be a real character to complement R2D2 and C3PO who are also suppose to be in the film for some reason (don't get me wrong I love those two characters but they would both be close to 70 years old at this point in the franchise...how has new droid technology not made them obsolete?)

I don't think there is anything, especially a Disney logo at the front of the film, that will keep a real Star Wars fan away...we suffered through JarJar and Ewoks didn't we

Nope! Bring it on again, and again, and again, and again, and again...Christy said that I looked like a 6 year old that was plastered to the TV (apple TV) watching the trailer. And I had that same feeling of excitement that I had when I was 6 and watching the trailer for the first time.

I loved the excitement of original trailer. While I was more than a little sarcastic with the "burnout" comment, I did find the trailer unsettling and I have been trying to figure out why.

I could care less about the broad sword light saber. I don't like what they have done to the Falcon.

I think I miss the old days when real models were used. The Falcon didn't look real; it looked too computer generated. I know modern movies heavily rely upon CGI. I have no problem with that. The Da Vinci Code used CGI for the interior of a late baroque church (St. Sulpice) and made it look authentic (even if not entirely accurate).

And yes, I know, we are talking about a fictional universe where nothing is real but I want to believe.

Agreed, I think the logo at the beginning is meaningless. Now if Disney screws this thing up, then the Disney bashing will never end by all fans.

Yup, I think I watched it a dozen times just to see if I could catch anything cool hidden in the background. My wife kept looking at me saying "seriously again".

Completely agree. I waited to watch it until I was at the theater today and I was pretty bummed about it. The Falcon looked too animated and the scenes did not feel like Star Wars to me. I wanted to like it but I didn't. And the new light saber is completely unimaginative to me. Like Abrams thought it would trump Maul's light saber.

And now I have to stop because I'm out nerding myself. ;)

I think that if Abrams makes a mess of Star Wars, he will never hear the end of it.

The Original is still there to enjoy. And if you want to talk about not well aged watch the scene with the Rancor again. It look fake there. I was kinda of astonished. I still love it but it has not aged well. (The rancor scene not the movie) Return of the Jedi is still a really good movie

I think if you are going to compare it to the original you are going to end up disappointed.

Sort of like comparing Disney World to Disneyland.:thumbsup2

I just hope he keeps the lens flare to a minimum. That was one hopeful sign about the trailer.

This! All Star Wars, all the time!! :thumbsup2

As a Star Wars fan I thought it was an awesome teaser! I'm not a super fan by any means but still a huge fan. I feel like the prequels now force super fans to look for issues with anything new being released that has anything to do with Star Wars. I thought the new light saber looked cool, not smooth but the light effect is kind of jagged so I'm not sure of it's a Jedi sanctioned saber or some dude made it from spare parts he purchased from a chop shop after the clone wars, but I keep reading fans say it sucks and it looks ridiculous.

I think sometimes we watch these with "this is obviously gonna suck so why even watch it" glasses and it may taint what is actually happening on screen.

For some sense of my fan scale:
- I adore the original trilogy (untouched on VHS)
- Was severely disappointed with the prequels (appreciated the storyline but the dialogue really hurt my soul and my mind was on overload during most on screen action sequences)
- I have played both Star Wars: The Force Unleashed games (one was actually a decent game but II felt rather like a reboot)

It hides beneath the rose....

At least we will get some new John Williams' Leitmotifs!!!! I am not sure it will be LSO playing, but LA has some great groups and studio players. John Williams went into the Studio on November the 15th to record the music for the trailer.

My whistle has been made sufficiently wet.

I want a John Williams' Leitmotif of my own.

It's not really trailer related however I see the biggest problem to be competing with the juggernaut that is Marvel and The Avengers which is ironic considering they are Disney franchises.

I'd be more worried about a cross-over in the franchises.

A Jedi Hulk, or Darth Loki.

It's happened before:

I just really want it to be good after seeing the trailer. I'm daring to hope.
