'Star Wars' coming to Disneyland but no MagicBands & More hints about Star Wars by Iger

I have a question:

Why is it that even though the majority of us, either at MiceChat, here on DisBoards, or even at Disney itself, apparently, are all relatively ambivalent about where Star Wars anything will go at Disneyland, the people at WDWMagic all remain adamant about such, that they know without a doubt about where it's going to go (where Toontown and the Big Thunder Ranch and backstage areas are)?

That's what I want to know, how can they at one site know for sure while the rest of don't? It doesn't really make a lot of sense.

I thought it was DC but then I second-guessed myself and put it in anyway because I couldn't remember the other cities... Too much of a fan in too many places...

And yes, it WAS long ago in a galaxy far away...

Most of Marvel's stuff takes place in New York and other real locations, sadly. If Marvel had the equivalent to Gotham, they could indeed make a cool area based on that.

I think a Star Wars "area" would be best, not an entire land. I'm not a fan of theming an entire land off of one property, even one as great as Star Wars. Bugs Life and Cars Land both lack magic, in my opinion. Yes they are cool, but consist of mostly spruced up carnival rides (filler rides lacking creativity). I would hate to see this done with SW (wookie bumper cars, anyone? :D ).

If they do make an Area, Tomorrowland would be best. A Mos Eisley Cantina sit-down restaurant would be very welcome in that section of the park (with an Express window like the Jazz Kitchen). And as much as I love the nostalgia of Autopia and Submarines, I could live without them (though it'd be difficult!) but no way I can do without Toon Town! My kids love it too much.

Hope Disney makes the right decisions!

I would think - in fact, hope - that Innoventions is where Star Wars will go. They are gutting it. Unless I'm mistaken, they've already gutted the lower half of the building. However, no one at Disneyland has mentioned anything about what's going to replace it yet. Hence, the idea of Star Wars where Innoventions is right now is just my opinion.

I also agree with you about Toontown. If I was forced to choose between having to give that up or give up Autopia, I would go with Autopia, because I love Toontown and I love the Roger Rabbit ride. True, Autopia is literally the only Tomorrowland attraction that has been around since day one, and for a while, it was for that very reason that I was opposed to it being removed. But now, I've rethought about this, and I decided that I wouldn't miss it as much as Toontown if one or the other were removed.

Yeah I agree Autopia would be sad if it was replaced. The first thing we do (since I was 3) every trip is ride the train around the park, and seeing the cars appear and hearing the sounds of the motors always announced Tomorrowland approaching and gets us all excited. But my kids just have'ta see Mickey in his house! :) And the RR ride is super well done and immersive, and shouldn't go either.

I think Innoventions would be best as you say, in terms of replacement, but it seems to me as if they're going to make the entire thing Marvel related, with shops in the lower portion. That's just a hunch though.

I actually think they should build the SW Area OVER Tomorrow Land. Like from the top of Star Tours over to Buzz. They could add a whole alien city/planet up there, and possibly a ride, all without demolishing current rides.

Who knows. All it takes is one vocal person remaining adamant (whether or not that person is wrong) for others to believe them. Could be such people are more vocal on that site. Or could be they actually do have inside information. Regardless, I wouldn't believe anyone without proof.

Nobody on these forums is an insider so we're all just regurgitating what we read elsewhere. The supposed "insiders" at Micechat and WDWmagic all say Star Wars is replacing Toontown, with a likely announcement at D23. Since everything is so fluid it's all just fun speculation until we hear an official announcement. I certainly wouldn't lose sleep over it.

In the hypothetical world where they did replace Toon Town, wouldn't it then be like the Roger Rabbit movie? :p Demolishing the Toon Town to make way for something else? Don't be like Judge Doom, Disney! :D

I didn't say that anyone here was an insider. Also, MiceChat is somewhat more ambivalent about Star Wars in Disneyland than WDWMagic, which remains adamant about it happening. As was mentioned on another website, they at WDWMagic seem to be more invested in Star Wars and seem more willing to put in the legwork about what's happening. Based on that, it seems as though the announcement has already occurred long before it was official.

Micechat has been pretty unequivocal about Star Wars in DL. They have not written any updates recently but their position has not changed.

One reason why there haven't been updates was because Al Lutz fell ill and disappeared. Also, I believe Disney cracked down on information leaks. Also, I think many people at MiceChat are relatively ambivalent about Star Wars in Disneyland.

The insiders at those sites are still frauds who are not insiders at all and there's still zero credibility to this rumor, so please do not bring it up again.

Isn't Micechat pretty ambivalent about everything though? Not to be rude because I enjoy my share of conversations there, too, but it's just the general feel I get there vs here. As for WDW Magic, I have met a few people who are pretty involved there in person and I get the impression that they tend to take any little rumor and run with it. So, it's like a continuum. Micechat on one side, WDWMagic on the other, and DIS somewhere in the middle. As for the rumors and whether they are true or not, you have 2 options. Either get one of the higher up jobs at Disney so you can be an insider, or wait for d23.

I and other people have followed those insiders for long enough to know that they are not frauds. They are not always 100% correct but you are being way out of line to slander them the way you do, especially since you don't seem to have any connections yourself. If you dislike them so much why don't you go to those forums and take it up with them over there instead of cowardly vilifying them over here? Or have you been banned everywhere else?
