So booked a trip for Apr.30 to May 7th and was very dissapointed to find out that Star Tours doesn't re-open till May 20th. My DS5 will be very dissapointed too as he is a big Star Wars fan. My questions are:

1) Is Jedi training still going on despite Star Tours being closed?

2) Does Disney ever re-open rides before the scheduled date? In other words any chance it will be open at the beginning of May for our trip?

It is my understanding that the Jedi training is going on... hope so since we will be there in March as well and was hoping to fit it in. And did you hear... they are doing the line up differently now, basically go there first thing and you are given a ticket-type thing to come back to a show later in the day based on how many people got there first.

Sometimes they open early, but only by a few days as a soft opening to fix any kinks. Also, it is assumed they are timing it with the first weekend of SWW.

Yes, Jedi Training Academy is still going on. Apparently Disney usually does soft openings before the opening date, but I wouldn't count on it. That way, your family is not disappointed if it is not in soft opening when you are there.

Thanks for the replies. Good to know at least the Jedi training is going on. I did hear they are doing the line up thing differently which is great! Last time we were there we went to every show that day in hopes of getting picked and my son was severely dissapointed when it didn't happen.

I guess I can hope for a soft opening but I won't even mention that as a possibility to my son!

My son just did Jedi training in September. The line up is different but not what the previous poster said. They take the 1st 15 children in line (they do have to line up)& your kids can leave the line as long as an adult stands there, but if your child doesn't come back right at the exact time they tell you, the child does not get a tickets & you lose your spot. Many parents stood in line holding their child's spot because the wait is about 45 mins in a hot lineup. My husband waited for my son while I took him to get a snack & cool off. The only pain in the butt thing was that some adults were holding the spot for 4 kids & since the kids are gone you have no idea if your child will make the next show until they all come back at ticket time. My son was #14 & just made it, but we kept standing there counting kids wondering if we were going to get a ticket.

So you don't just take off after you get a ticket, you stand in line to get a ticket & about 20 mins before hte show, they come out to hand out tickets & after that, your child can't leave the line.

Hope that makes sense. We went at the end of September & this was how it was done then which was different from 2009. Unless they've changed it again since September?
