This morning was my time to get FP+ for HS in 60 days (October 15th) and I was surprised at the earliest time for Star Tours, which is 2:00. I guess it makes sense since it’s the only ride in tier 2 (the rest are shows) but 2:00 is kind of late if there’s going to be any chance to get a 4th FP+. I assume if I keep refreshing earlier times will become available?

Subject to availability, but possibly.

Keep checking. I had a 4pm FP for Star Tours on Monday 9/2 (4 guests). Refreshed a few days ago and got a 2:30pm. Refreshed again today and got it down to 1:30pm. People will change their plans, especially if guests nail down reservations for SWGE and will need to adjust their FP's.

I would go back in and try to modify it now. Try on BOTH a pc/laptop and on the app. When I booked a couple of weeks ago it was trying to give me 2:00 p.m. for several rides and showing that as the earliest time available. No matter what I did-- put in morning- specific time--- etc..-- 2:00 p.m. was the earliest time. I went ahead and booked things at 2:00 and then I went in on my phone and pc/laptop and almost every time-- if I changed to request a different time of day and picked a time itself-- there was a ton of availability. There were times where I would have to book my first one, go in and change it, and then book my second one to get the times right. I can't remember whether it was the app or pc/laptop that was pulling the other times- but one still kept giving me the earliest as being 2:00, and the other was giving me any time I wanted. That system is glitchy!!! It took me about an hour to get all our FPs booked because it kept locking up; knocking me out; giving me 2:00 p.m. when I was asking for "morning" or "9:00 a.m" etc. You'd think they would improve it-- but we have issues every trip-- it is the absolute worst when you are trying to both when it first opens up/rolls over in the morning.

Hmm. I tried doing it on my phone and on the computer at the same time but both say the earliest time is 2:25.

I haven't been to WDW in October, but I keep reading that the rise in fall breaks has turned October into a busy time. Given the current state of FPs in HS, I wouldn't be surprised if Star Tours becomes a very hard FP to get, especially for early in the day. I hope you're one of the lucky ones and able to modify it!

With the tier change, it is now the most popular of the second tier. There is always movement of times as people plan their day.

I agree with others...keep refreshing. I would take the later time, refresh, and always end up with a time right where I wanted.

Keep checking, as always. In 3 weeks I've gradually been able to move my TSM FP from 12 all the way down to 9, and Star Tours from 1 down to 10:30. You just gotta catch it at the right time. I check stuff a dozen times a day since it only takes a minute.

I agree with you overall, but I submit that in this case the system is not glitchy - it's doing exactly what Disney wants it to do. When making your initial FP, most people are going to use the app. The nature of the app also means it can deal with only limited amounts of data at a time. So Disney only shows a few available times of their choosing so as to push traffic to those times. It's a way to even out the demand. The web site is able to deal with larger chunks of data so you'll often see more times available there. But there's still an aspect of demand smoothing going on.

As for modifying, most guests don't even know it's a thing - they take whatever Disney shows them initially because they don't know any better. If someone does try to modify a FP, Disney appears to then not attempt (much) to direct them to specific times. If you select Morning, then they may choose what to show you within that range, but if you specify a time (say 10:00) you'll get it if it's available. With modify, they tend not to hide things (particularly on the web site), whereas with initial selections they do.

Just my opinion, but as a systems guy for 40+ years I recognize the behavior I experience.

Thank you! This message was really encouraging and after I read it I went on the app and modified it to 11:55! Yay!!!!!
