My husband wants to ride Star Tours, and he and both of my children are HUGE Star Wars fans, so my son and daughter (7 and almost 5) want to ride it with him. I've heard it's a rough ride. Would this be too rough or are any parts scary that might bother a 7 and 5 year old? I'm not going to ride it, the fact that it is rough is enough to keep me off, but I don't know if I should keep the kids with me, or let them go along. Thanks!!

Hi~

My DS (6) started riding it when he was 5 years old. He loves the ride. IMHO it is not too bad.

If you are worried, and if it is not too busy, you can ask about a "no-motion" version. My grandson turned 4 on our last trip, and he was too short for Star Tours - which was very disappointing, as he is a huge fan. I asked about the no-motion possibility, and the CM said he thought we could do that. So they brought us up to the front, and we were ushered into a car all by ourselves (just our family). The CM told my grandson that he would be the captain of the ship, and saluted him, and had him say "blast off" to signal the ride to start. He LOVED it! And afterwards the CM gave us a certificate to mark the occasion. Sebastian talked about it for days afterwards - how he was the captain, how we took a detour, etc., etc.

My DS turned 4 while we were at Disney, and he must have ridden Star Tours 20 times. That and Test Track were his 2 favorite rides. He's a little bit of a daredevil, though.

Thank you so much!! I think they will be alright, and if they don't like it then they only ride it once. I did tell them that if they felt sick to look at the floor or the seat in front of them, which was a tip in one of the books I read. As for me, I'm seeing some free shopping time!! Might be a good time to head to the Five and Dime and rustle up some Mr. Potato Head parts!! :cool1: Thanks again!!

DS7 and DD3 have both ridden Star Tours. It's one of their favorite rides. DS started riding it when he was 4, so I think anyone between 3 and 4 years old can ride it. It's not that scary and bumpy.

I wish I would have known about the no-motion version for DD3 in February of this year. One night she got to ride it (for the first time) 'cause her hat made her just barely tall enough, but the next morning she didn't wear her hat and was about 1/4" too short and they wouldn't let her on (even after I told them she rode it the day before with no problems). Noone ever offered us the no-motion option. She was pretty bummed that she had to wait for her brother to finish riding it without her. How do you explain to a 3 yo why she could ride it one day but not the next? :(

DD, who turned six a few days after her first ride on Star Tours, says that it's her favorite ride at WDW. She doesn't even like Star Wars (she heard there was a princess, but she couldn't find her...).

Have to agree that your kids will love it. When we did our DD5 and DS4 couldn't get enough of it. They ended up going on it 7 times in a row b/c there wasn't a line to get on; I stopped after 5 though...

DS has been riding it enthusiastically since age 2. The ride is bumpy, but not any more so than the Safari at AK.

Let them go, it is nothing to worry about. If they're Star Wars fans like you say, they will love it.

My DS5 was a little nervous during the ride but afterwards said he loved it. He wants to ride it again on our next trip.

My DS4 went on Star Tours without any problem. IMO it isn't rough at all.
His comment afterwards was that this wasn't really a ride, all you did was move back and forth in your seat. I guess he thought he was going to go somewhere!

Our kids started riding it pretty young. I think DS was 5. It seem pretty tame and non-scary -at least for us

Second that.

I don't think there is anything scary with this ride and not very rough either. My 5 yr old very small and skinny DS loved this ride, we rode it multiple times while his DD and Dad went and rode RNR. They will love it!

I wouldn't mention the non motion bit because I have never heard of it and we weren't offered it on the trip before when he was too small and cried when he couldn't go on (at that time you had to go all the way to the car and then baby swap) and he was 3. It must have been an extremely slow time of year with no line or they would never take an entire car out of service for one family unless it was a Make a wish kid.

My son has been riding it since he was 3 yrs old.
He loved it from the very beginning. It is a must do on every trip for him.

I say if your kids are Star Wars fans and they want to do it, let them! They will probably really like it.

Our DS rode for the first time last year (age 4) and he LOVED it!

My boys who were the same ages last trip 7 and 5 both LOVE this ride. We even got to ride it a second time when a CM asked us to get back on to fill up the seats :-) Little magic but the kids loved it :wizard:

They won't have a problem at all, especially if they are SW fans. Even if they start getting nervous, they'll forget all about it in the middle of the ride.

My DD6 rode this 10 times at the age of 4, it's her all-tiome favorite. :ewok:
