We are taking a last-minute trip to Disney on the 25th, and staying at Star Island Resort. Has anyone stayed there before? It looks like there may have been some upgrades in some rooms, not in others. Ideally, I'd love to get an upgraded room, so any ideas on which buildings/rooms are the best? We've got a 1BR timeshare.

Thanks in advance! This is last minute and low budget, so I realize it's not going to be the Four Seasons. Just absolutely thrilled about heading out there!

I wish I could help you...my family is staying there for the first time in Sept! I think it's considered a 5star for RCI....which doesn't mean 5star as in the Four Seasons, but considering that I'd think it's similar to maybe a Marriott. Now of course you'll have to tell me what you think when you get back:rolleyes1

We have stayed at Star Island before but it has been a few years. We enjoyed it and found the rooms to be nice. The room we had was a two or three bedroom and had a really large hot tub inside the unit. I enjoyed that part. It also has a number of tennis courts and a tennis school you can attend. The pool is nice with activities in the building right by the pool. They had a cookout and DJ while we were there a few summers ago. My kids, all teenagers now, really liked it. There are a lot of chain restaurants close by as well as grocery shopping. :surfweb:

We've stayed at Star Island many times, the last being this past April. My parents prefer Star Island over Bonnet Creek simply because of the size of the units. It's a very nice resort, although it doesn't have all of the tile and granite counter tops. The units have always been very clean. There's plenty to keep you busy. They also provide you with a complimentary family portrait which I think is a nice touch. HTH!

We stayed at Star Island in May 2008 and loved it. It certainly wasn't luxury but the one-bedroom unit we were in was clean, spacious and had a wonderful bath tub and seperate shower. We loved the pool area and enjoyed many afternoons there. No complaints at all! We visited Bonnet Creek and spent some time at their pool - seemed too stuffy for me.

I am an owner there so my opinion is slightly biased.:goodvibes Of course, I have stayed there many many times. What I like most is that it is not overly pushy with the timeshare sells. Just be firm if you decide to turn down the presentation.

The pool area has been refurbished. It is really nice especially if you have kids. They have family activities until 11:00pm around the pool most nights.

Many of the units have been redone. As of last Thanksgiving, my building was not done (building 15). However, everything is really clean. Yes it is older but it is not gross.

I have not stayed in the second phase in over 10 years. The second phase consist of 10-12 floors of condo units. The other units are three story tall. I don't think they have an elevator in the three story units. (My unit is on the ground level).

This location is 2 minutes from Publix, 3 minutes from Wal-mart on SR 535 and 3 minutes from Target on SR 192.

A con for me is that parking at night can be a challenge. May not find a parking space close to your unit.

Would post photos but I don't have any after 14 years of ownership. :confused3 Guess I will be taking photos this year.;)
