We are scheduled to be at Star Island Resort this Sunday for 4 nights. I am planning on cooking in the room to save $$$....

I have never stayed at a timeshare....can someone tell me.....do they have cooking utensils in the room? Pots/Pans/things to cook with? Or do I need to pack this stuff?

Also, is their a Publix or other grocery store nearby?

We plan to bring as much dry foods so all I will have to get after we check in are perishables.

Thanks princess:

All of the utensils, pots, bowls, etc are provided.

There is a grocery store right down the street from you..I believe it is a Publix but could be wrong. Target and Walmart are also close by.

Have a wonderful trip!!

We arrive at Star Island this Sunday as well, we'll be there for a week. My mother in law has a timeshare there and we go once a year.

You'll find everything you need in the kitchen.

There is a Publix right around the corner, as well as the Target (where we prefer to go) and also the Walmart (which is always busy and a pain to get in and out of)

There's a Publix Market less than a mile away at 2915 Vineland Rd, Kissimmee, FL (at the intersection of Rt. 192 & S.R. 535)

sorry, but I can't find check in stuff on their website.

Can you check in early like at the Disney resorts (we have checked in as early as 9am before at Disney hotels)? Or do we have to wait until 3 or 4?

Thanks.

I know there have been a few times when we've gotten there and we were able to check in early. My husband's aunt and uncle were able to check in around 11 one year they went.

If you're particular about your frying pan (DH is) you might want to bring your own non-stick. Sometimes there isn't a good one. DH also brings his favorite knife. I usually bring a muffin pan because not too many places have them. I bring the packages of muffin mix. Easy breakfast!

I bring salt and pepper, since only about half the places we've stayed provided it. I also bring other spices. Be sure to bring aluminum foil unless you want to pick some up when you get there. If the whole family is along, we run the dishwasher twice a day. I usually throw a few extra dishwasher tablets in the bag. There are always some provided, but sometimes not enough for us.

Thank you Sheila for those tips. I have a suitcase already packed w/ dry foods, baggies, alum. foil, etc....I'll throw some spices and a muffin pan and frying pan in :)

Thank you again!
