When they are considered "standing room only" - how small does that mean? I really can't picture the actual size in my mind, do they have enough room to stand on them with the door closed?

Thanks. :)

There is enough room for two people (or maybe three smaller people) to stand on the balcony with the door closed.

Cali, It's pretty small, especially compared to a full balcony. It is standing room only. Once when I stayed there I saw that some one had put a chair on the balcony, probably one from the room and at that point only one person could sit out on the balcony. Definetly request a full balcony and check about it again when you check in. You can get a full balcony because most rooms are full balconies and you have prior knowledge about what to expect, and have lots of experience about requesting and getting what you want from Disney. Have a great time!
:D

Just big enough for a person to go outside and take pictures or take a cigarette break. If you want to sit outside get a full balcony. You're checking in early enough, either ask or check your room number on your map before you leave the lobby. If you're not getting a full balcony just tell them you'll wait for a room with a full balcony. Shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks for the replies.

I have requested a full balcony, but now I'm thinking that we really won't need it. I don't expect us to be out on the balcony frequently. But, it would be nice to have.

I'll keep the request in, but, I really don't think it would bother me to not have it. We'll see once we check in...

I just want something that I can atleast stand on (to take pictures from, etc).

:)

Our step out balcony we just had, I didn't think I would care for but it was ok, it didn't ruin the room or trip! The balcony itself is small my sister & I could both stand out there and the door shut to, but a chair would really fill it. We did use a chair to prop it open, cause the ac was really kicking (no motion sensor here) when we checked in and we had to defrost the room! You could sit like that but think I would of been closterphobic (sp?) with a chair out there. Remember the "step out" does come with windows so it still has a lovely view and can open up the room. There is 1 large window on the each side of the door. On the 3rd floor where our room was the 2nd floor had nice balcony's under us, but if someone comes out under you you feel like your standing over there shoulder spying out! If your really quiet, you can lurk up there and watch the other people, on there large balconies (who were luckier than us)! In case you forgot our location was waterview, over quiet pool, facing straight out. MKY

I was just over at joe cool's faq for the BC, and they have it written on the floor plans that the "step out" is 1' X 3'! Don't forget the yc/bc faq they have GREAT floor plans with views and size, detailed on them! ;) MKY

Thanks, mky. I do have JC's floorplans printed out! ;) However, some of the rooms say that they have full balconies when they don't. For example, on the second and third floors, the end wing, it says they have full balconies, but they really don't. The second floor has standing room only, the third floor has a balcony the entire length, but it's narrow w/o any chairs.

I think it might be fun to be able to look "over" people down on their full balcony while on a standing room only balcony, LOL!

Cali, on the YC/BC resort thread there is a pic of the balconies. Scroll down the main page and under the word "suites" there is a exterior shot showin the two different balconies. Hope this helps.

Cali, I think Joe's right about the 2nd floor. I looked at a bunch of photos are there are large sections where the second floor has full balconies while the third has only the tiny ones (or none).

I'm glad it doesn't matter much to you, since it's so hit or miss :)
