Today while driving to the market I was listening to a CD that a friend had made for me. There is a song, sounds like maybe Tim McGraw or Garth Brooks singing it. The song has some awesome words. Well worth listening to. It talks about how we call people fools because they are willing to risk fall and failure because not to is not living but only surviving, they can't abide standing outside the fire.

That sounds so like the WISH team. We burn with a desire to be part of life not just watch it go by. Life should not be a spectator sport. We risk failure to test ourselves, because not to is unexceptable. We answer the call when it's half and full marathon time, because it's part of who we are.

Last year when Disney came out with the Tower of Terror night race, they said the magic words: "Do you dare". Heck yes we dare, that to is part of who we are, be first on a races maiden voyage, oh yea baby.

We might not have a priceless piece of art on our wall but we have race medals that are priceless memories hanging there. "What did you do on your vacation"? "I took on the baddest of distances on a brutally hot humid day".

Why do you do it when you can get hurt? Isn't it stupid to risk injury when you could just take a yoga class. Because We are Inspired, the Staying Healthy is part of the payoff, the operative term is Inspired. We are inspired to seek out the challanges and face them.

I challange everyone this week to remember that you are unique in all the world, you are loved and needed and depended on. Be the role model that you can be, a model of strength, courage and personal accomplishment.

"YARC" Panda

It's a great song, Fire eating Panda! The singer/song writer is Garth Brooks. He wrote "Standing Outside the Fire" in honor of Special Olympics Athletes and opens the Oklahoma Special Olympics each year with that song. I love that song. And it should have special meaning to all athletes, because we live and love life. Just like my new granddaughter, who is raising money so that she won't be left "Standing Outside the Fire", neither will each of us at WISH! :firefight

Thank you Connie, I thought it might be a Garth Brooks song.

There is a message there for us, I listened to that song, like 5 times in a row, trying to internalize the words for later use when I'm in a tough race.

Walking Panda:hippie:

One of many Garth songs I have on my workout mp3 player. Along with, among others, "I'm Much Too Young to Feel this Damn Old" and "When There's No One Around."

Will do my best to accept the challenge.

Thanks for the words of wisdom Dave.
