So we are thinking about spliting our stay between POFQ and a monorail resort. The issue...we need the cheapest possible monorail resort room...but still feel the disney magic. I've been researching and found a "standard wing room" at the Contemporary. I was excited b/c we can afford this...but then I read about it and it says "located in a 3 story building next to the tower". If we choose to stay in the CR we want to stay in the main building with the MR moving through it. I take the "standard wing room" isn't in the main building? Can anyone help me with this.

There's only 3 of us (2 adults and a will be 4 yr old boy)...so we don't need a big room or anything special. We just really want to stay in a MR resort. If you all have any suggestions about the CR or any other "cheap" MR resort please post them here.

Thanks so much!

Standard wing room is not in the tower that the monorail goes through. It is indeed 3 separate buildings, tower, and 2 wing buildings, North and South.

We have stayed in the wing buildings twice. The wing rooms are pretty much the same room as in the tower. I would request a wing room in the North wing building, and close to the tower. It is the closest wing building to the MK walkway, the bus stop, and to the Food and Fun Center. The wing buildings are very long and if you get a room at the end, it can be a long and confusing walk to your room.

I would suggest visiting allearsnet.com and checking the resort section for the Cont. There are a lot of pics and a map of the resort.

Your best bet would be getting a tower room at the Cont. OR a garden view room at the Poly.

As stated, the wing rooms are off to the sides of the Main tower where the Monorail goes through. Rooms in the tower run around $340 a night I believe (unless you find some codes or AAA). The wing rooms are not that bad, especially the north garden wings (which you most likely may be placed in since over half of the south garden wing is in refurb). We found it to be over $100 cheaper to stay in the wings, a short walk to the main building to get on the monorail, and from where our room was, the monorail went 40 feet above our heads to enter the main tower.

We have stayed at the Contemporary twice so far. Both times we were in the North Wing and loved it. We were right outside the playground. Ground floor can just step out onto your patio and your there - Second and third floors afford great views of the night time water pageant. If your in the first building closest to the tower it is sooo convenient for breakfast at the "caferteria" just out one door and into the other. The arcade is also right there. I would do the CR if I were you. It is one of our favorites. We,re headed to Disney in less then 3 weeks. We'll being staying at the Poly for the first time and are very excited!!! Hope you have a great trip whatever you choose. Good Luck!! :earsgirl: :earsboy: :wizard: princess: princess:

We love the garden wing rooms. Although some would disagree, we don't think the tower rooms are worth another $100 or so per night. We think you get the whole "monorail going through the hotel" experience just by hanging out in the upper level lobby near Chef Mickey's and the stores.

I have stayed in CR wing room and we loved it. I found the Tower to be to busy. When in the Tower you also have the noise factor of Chef Mickey-- early am. I do visit Chef Mickeys at each visit though. ;)

We found the wing room to be comfortable, convenient. I do agree it did need some refurbishing--now going on. I had a great view of the monorail out my glass door- no balcony.

My DS6 loved the pool/slide at the Cont. My Dh, DD's and DS thought the Monorail access was great also.

We stayed at WL and found a new love. It has boat access to MK/Monorail to Epcot. The bus system was great. If you are thinking of another resort look into WL you may also want to look into renting points for VWL. To have kitchen access. It made the breakfast/snack before bedtime easier. And the price was about the same cost as a room (no sales tax).

Have a great vacation. I know the 4 year old will no matter where U stay.
