Standard View or Upgrade?

I currently have reserved 2 connecting standard view rooms for the WL for Oct 2008. In the past we've always been upgraded for free, but at those times we only had 1 room. I'm considering upgrading our room to woods or courtyard, but wonder if we'd be upgraded for free anyway. I know its a gamble, but what do you think of our chances for a free upgrade? Or, should I just pay more and get the room I want?

What is the "view" for standard view at WL? I had a woods view once and it faced the back delivery area- it certainly wasn't something I thought was worth paying extra for! We just returned from a stay at the new AKLvillas where we had a savannah view. I realized that while it was nice, we spent very little time, probably less than an hour total in our four night stay, actually looking out our balcony. I guess it depends on how much you'll enjoy a different view/location or how disappointed you'll be if you don't get a comp upgrade???---Kathy

I heard other posters also say their woods view wasn't much better also. Thats why I hate to pay more without knowing if the room is indeed better. I don't know yet how I'll feel if our room isn't great, all of our other visits we've had great rooms with views of the boat parade, and I think the kids have come to expect it!! I do also agree that we're in our rooms for such a short time, that it really shouldn't matter, but when that boat parade music starts playing at 9:30, everyone just loved jumping up to see it. Maybe after all it would be nice to get them to bed earlier!!

I've done lots and lots or research for our June, 2008 WL visit. It's our first time staying there!

Since we were upgrading from a moderate resort to the WL, our 10 day stay is costing $1,000.00 more than our moderate stays. We are staying in a standard view room.

From what I have read, the standard view rooms will overlook a parking lot or a service area. To upgrade to a woods view would be over $250.00 more.

So, we talked about it and thought about it and talked about it some more and thought about it some more.:confused3 What to do? What to do?:confused3 How much do we really look at our view? How much time do we really spend in our room? Etc. Etc. Etc. Not a whole heck of a lot.

We finally decided to just stick with a standard view room. We are going to the Wilderness Lodge more for the "feel" of the entire resort. Not necessarily the view from our balcony.

If they give me a free upgrade, I'll be happy. If not, I'll be happy.
