Reserved a standard car for our 12 day long Sept trip, (using a free upgrade coupon on a midsize), for a total of 300. Alamo references Chevy Malibu in this class. First, since Alamo has no row for standard cars at MCO (at least not in '09), are we able to pick from the full size aisle? Or will they make us take a Malibu? Second, we have been very comfortable with an Impala (full size) for DH, DD7, and I in past trips (3 large bags/3 carryons). This Sept we will be adding DD16, thus adding an additional large bag and carryon, but eliminating our stroller. Will it be much tighter if we have to take the Malibu?

I don't believe Alamo uses such a category as "standard" in the US (at least not in Florida that I've seen). Their selections in the garage go from "mid-size" to "full-size". Is there are price difference to book the full size? If not, I'd just book that category if it's a full size you want. Truthfully I don't think there is much difference size wise between the Malibu and the Impala.

If prices do not go down, I'd like to be sure we could make do with the standard size.

I will tell you my experience with Alamo. We were there last year September and we were booked for a "standard size". According to the aisle marker, it said "standard/full size". The aisle was chock full of chevy malibu's and impalas.. there was one nissan altima, one toyota camry, and a couple of mazda 626. Otherwise, its pretty much what you see is what you get. to their credit, our car was a brand new 2010 chevy impala with 10 miles on it, so we got to enjoy our vacation AND brand new car smell to boot!!!!

Two weeks ago we rented a mid-size and we got a kia Rondo and man there was a lot of room in it. Lots of leg room in the back as well as the front. Plenty of room for luggage.

The Rondo is like a small SUV with a lot of room. We got it for $70 for 5 days. I used the $25 off coupon on the Alamo sit and also did the pay it now option. I priced all of the rental companies using the discount codes from BJS-Sams- Costco. and by not using the discount code I got a better rate and saved $35.

Just don't make the mistake and book a mid-size SUV because Alamo did not classify this an SUV but rather just a mid-size car. If you chose a mid-size SUV you will be quoted a higher price.
