Disney Cruise veterans, please help me to decide--when we dock at St. Thomas, should I see the island, or skip it & go to St. John? I'm not a big shopper, by the way.

We didn't spend any time in St. Thomas, opting instead to take the ferry to St. John. We then took a taxi to Trunk Bay which was absolutely gorgeous. I've always heard that St. John was the more beautiful of the two islands, but that's just heresay.

We did an excursion to St. John and had plenty of time to venture (walking) into St. Thomas. I enjoyed it and was able to buy some cologne for DH and spend one-on-one time with DS7. Lovely day - had a nice little ice cream shop and mailed some postcards. Very relaxing afternoon. Good shopping. DH went off with other family members. DH said jewelry, booze and cologne was good downtown. They took a taxi into the shopping area. Not too expensive taxi ride. (can't remember $$)

We did a tour of St Thomas and a stop at Coral World on our cruise in January. My 12 year old son and I were very disappointed. Next time we're going to St. John !

We took the cable car up the mountain & had a great time! Just say no thanks to the insistant taxi drivers (the ride is less than they say) as you walk to the base station ( less than 10 minutes even with DDs short little legs!) as the ride is fantastic and the view of the bay & the ship below is amazing. There is also a short "nature trail" at the top along with the small cafe & shops. We were concerned about the children (DS9, DS7, & DD4) being afraid of the ride up & down but had no problems.

Hi

I love st. thomas. It is one of my fav islands to stop at on a cruise...

We generally take the taxi ($7p/p) to Coki (sp?) Beach...It is about a 15 min ride up and down the mountain.

Great beach, great snorkeling if you choose, and they make great drinks right there on the beach for you. We usually spend the whole afternoon there when we stop...

Paradise Point is our favorite spot! We walk over to it and spend a couple hours enjoying the view over the harbor and sipping our drinks. We took our teenage boys last Spring Break and they loved it. There is also a cute bird show once in the early afternoon, I believe 1:00 pm. There is a small snack area and bar and some shops and as mentioned above a nature trail. We always say we will do a beach and we always end up at Paradise Point. Kathy

St. Thomas has a very beautiful beach - Magen's Bay. It is definately worth going. Also, you can go to Mountain top for a beautiful view of Magen's Bay and some very yummy Banana Daquiris. If you are also going to St. Maarten, the shopping is better there in terms of prices. Especially on liquor, but also electronics and jewelry. We just did that itinerary 9/7 on CArnival.

I've been to St. Thomas and St. John several times. The first time I went to St. John, I thought that I had found paradise. (I now feel that way about the Baths in BVI). You should really check out St. John. Sometimes I've been disappointed by the beaches in St. Thomas. They are very nice but sometimes not what I expected.

You won't want to leave. It's as close to paradise as I've ever seen.
