Hello,

Heading out on the Fantasy Nov 28th, Eastern Caribbean. We are going to hit St. Thomas. We have done Maegan's Bay and St. John's already.

I was hoping some one could recommend an non-Disney Tour company and/or excursion for a tour of the island that did not include water activities (snorkeling, catamaran) or a beach (such as Maegan's Bay).

It can include shopping, sights, restaurants.

I found Godfrey Tours and I don't know if anyone has used them. I see there are some reviews but I would like to hear from the DIS boards an their thoughts.

So any recommendations?

Thank you very much in advance!

I can't name a tour company, but I will recommend taking the Skyway to Paradise Point, and you can easily do that on your own as it's a quick & easy walk from the ship, through a safe area.

So what did you end up finding to do?

Doing the same cruise. I think this will be our 6th time in St Thomas on DCL and before that stayed at a condo for a week on Sapphire beach way back in 1989. We are doing the ST11 tour with DCL but usually we rent a Jeep at Budget near the Havensight Pier and do our own tour. I'm a little nervous doing that this time with a lot of things being up in the air.
Edit misread the date. We are on the February 26th Eastern.

What we did was the Sonny Liston tour. We did the shop and sight-see, no beaches part of the tour. (We have previously been to Magen's Bay)

It was ok. Though, thru no fault of "Taxi Love" the tour guide. Really the tour was a drop off down town on the shopping street, which most of the shops were closed. Why were they closed? I don't know. We really only saw 2 or 3 shops worth stopping and buying from. 1 hour shopping on our own.

Then a 2 hour drive around the island. Stops at Drake's Seat (just an overlook) and Mountain Top, (very nice view) with a very large gift shop.

Taxi Love gave a running commentary during the ride but the ride was 2 hours of up and down very bump roads with close calls with trucks and cars. The commentary got repetitive after a while.

What we figured out was that we need to go back and really figure out how to do St. John's. My wife gave me an ultimatum to figure out St John's or else.

Bumpy ride? Thanks for the heads up not gonna work for the individual with back problems appreciate the heads up! You might’ve saved my mom a few days/weeks in bed with that information. ❤️

I agree - it is a bit rough on some of the older roads. Now, I don't know if this is still possible in current circumstances, but last time I was there (2019), I walked from the port into Charlotte Amalie (single female/mid-30s). It does take about 30 minutes - but it was free. (Note: I did get a ride back from a friend who lived there, so I only had to walk one way). It is unfortunate that a lot of shops were closed so I might not do that now!

Also was going to recommend Blackbeard's Castle (we went there in 2011) but it looks like it is still closed from Hurricane Irma.
