Hi,
I am looking at snorkeling adventures in St thomas. I like this one but worried about my mom getting off boat.
She will stay on when we snorkel but I would like her to be able to go on beach for lunch.

In your experience are the boats like pool ladders or a step to get off on beach docking.

Thanks
Kerri

It is difficult, we did it, now at Turtle cover people generally put snorkel kit on, on the boat and jumped off. There was a small ladder quite slippery and some of our party stayed on the boat. Now there was a schooner and a catamaran boat, the later was easier to get on and off. At Honeymoon bay it was easier the boats got closer to a beach and you could after the steps walk in, at Turtle cove it's a bay and no where near the land.

It's not for non snorkelers and Also not for people who can't get up and down on ladders easy. Yes it's like pool ladders but wood, and the closet thing to step off is honeymoon bay.

Thanks for the quick informative reply. Might be too difficult for her.
Wondering if there is a snorkeling excursion that has shade for mom and can stay on boat when we snorkel.

Was thinking St.John , she can stay on beach while we snorkel....but lots of travel time.

Do you think St. Thomas has better snorkeling than Tortola? Another port. We were going to do the Long bay lunch and beach excursion there.
Thanks
Kerri

U have to swim to honeymoon beach about 100 feet or climb aboard a little raft
Thanks.
Thinking of now sending mom on another excursion. The Ron Tiki with Glassbottom?
Anyone heard of this one?
Thanks
Kerri

I have NOT done this excursion, but I have booked 'Caribbean Sea Safari' on the Virgin Breeze. I did some research beforehand bc I wondered about restrooms. Search Virgin Breeze St Thomas and the company's website will come up. It looks like the center of the boat is shaded at least. You could email the company and ask your questions. They seem to be responsive to reviews I have seen on Tripadvisor.

That being said: I think your mom would probably enjoy a different kind of tour (the glass bottom or a island tour) more than just waiting on the boat.

I did this excursion a few years ago, and unless it's changed I would say it probably won't be a good fit for your mom. I was on the catamaran and it does have a short ladder to go down into the water. It pulled into Honeymoon Beach fairly close to shore but you had to get in the water and walk to shore since there are no docks to pull up to. It's very rocky so I would strongly suggest water shoes. It was also about chest high water so anything I wanted onshore I had to carry over my head. One thing to note is that this is not "the" Honeymoon Beach that is on the best beaches list. It is a small beach in a cove on a neighboring island (can't remember the name of it). It's was okay, but not the Caribbean kind of beach that I was expecting. There are only a handful of chairs on the beach, other excursions are there so it can get crowded, and the food wasn't anything special. I only tell you this because if you are picking this excursion for the beach time, then i would strongly reconsider. The tour group we were with was great, the snorkeling was awesome, but the beach was disappointing. Hope this gives you a little more info to help you decide. Enjoy your cruise!!! :)
