Can a few of you comment on these two excursions? Wondering if we can do both, one in the morning and one in the afternoon? Is the Golden Catamaran a good one to do? and is the Under Two Flags worth the drive around the island? Thanks :)

I am interested in this info, also. Want to do the golden catamaran excursion, I think. Any other good suggestions?

We did the golden eagle catamarran in st. maarten on our first eastern cruise--- it was a blast! open bar and drinks, nice lunch on board, music; we travelled to a cove, anchored and snorkeled off the catamarran; they have wide steps right down into the water; they also had a small boat to take you to shore and drinks on shore. Kids and adventuresome people could ride up front on the mesh-like part of the catamarran and coming back, lots of dancing and music! I think they go out twice a day; once in morning and then in afternoon. We went out in morning; great fun.

definitely the catamaran... not much to the island at all, as far as the tour goes. It was informative, but to be honest, most of what you see is very impoverished scenery.

We spent a week in St Maarten last year - not DCL, just at a resort. We did the Catamaran cruise - there were 9 of us in all - inlcuding 3 kids ages 9, 8 and 4. We had a blast! We are definitely doing the catamaran on our St Maarten day. As for the 2 Flags... since we spent an entire week on the island, we rented a car and saw most of it. Personally, I wasn't very impressed. We did go to Pinel Island which was nice. I think we are going to do the Catamaran and then do some shopping on Front Street. If you are interested in jewelry - I totally recommend Splash. Several others have been there and they are honest and very well priced. On our last day there on the island, DH bought me a ring for our 10th anniversary. They sized it, and changed my engagement ring into a pendant and delivered it to our hotel that night. They used to be way down at the end, but we just got a postcard they have moved up towards more of the action. I also recommend the Guavaberry Emporium. Also on Front Street. Bring home a bottle or two of the Guavaberry Almond Liquor. The best Guavaberry coladas you've ever had! I have friends placing orders for me to bring some home... so I'll have to check out my limit for customs!
