Hi everyone!

We are planning a long weekend trip in June to St. Louis. We will be flying in and would like to go to Six Flags and a Cardinals game. Could you guys tell me a good place to stay? Also, will we need to rent a car or is there transportation you can use around the city? Any other suggestions would be great as well!

Thanks!

Stay at a Drury Inn; the price includes breakfast and snacks in the evening. Check out their website and make sure to sign up for their rewards program.

There is the metrolink that makes a stop at the airport and goes downtown to the stadium...but doesn't make it out as far as Six Flags. If you have your heart set on going to Six Flags (in Eureka, MO), you'll need to rent a car.

If you are baseball fans (and I assume you are since you're taking in a game), consider a tour of Busch Stadium. It's very interesting and makes for some great family photos!

If you are wanting to save a bit of money, keep an eye on groupon.com specials for St. Louis. I've seen stadium tours, city museum passes, and many other fun StLou activities on there for 1/2 price.

St. Louis in June is a nice time to visit. It will be warm but hopefully not so terribly humid yet.

Yes, You will need a car to get to Six Flags. It is a 30 to 45 minute drive south from Downtown.

The two links will give you tourist info for the city. The first link is for Schlafly's Tap Room. The food is good, reasonable and it is comfortable venue and in downtown. It is the first restaurant that we can take all visiting friends and family too that everyone enjoys hands down!
If you have not tasted St. Louis version of Pizza... find an IMO"s. They are classic St. Louis Style Pizza. If you go down to Delmar Loop.. try Blueberry Hill.. great burgers and people watching.

The second link has info on the tourist hot spots. CITY MUSEUM is by far the favorite of my adult children and grandkids. The Arch and its museum, The Riverboat tours, The St. Louis Zoo,and the Budweiser/ Anheiser Busch tour are all fun and interesting for most everyone at any age.

Have fun!

We spent all summer in STL last year. It was so nice! Def do the arch, we did it at night this last time and it was such a wonderful sight!

All the above ideas are good ones. Don't forget Grant's Farm. My kids and I love it. When we lived in STL, years ago, DS11 and I spent many an afternoon there. We went back once this past summer but I wish we had gone more. Also, the Magic House is fun if you have a rainy day and can't be outside. It does take the WHOLE day, though. I didn't think I would ever get my kids out of there :) That is one place, that if we lived there again, I would happily buy a membership.

Do not miss the City Museum! It is unbelievable! There is nothing like it anywhere. :thumbsup2

Magic House is good too. :goodvibes

There is a lot of things to do here, one of the good things about MO.

Cardinal Game and Six Flags sounds about right for a weekend. How many days?

We could load you up with places to visit.;)

I would lean toward staying in Fenton at 141 at the Drury Inn there. It is central to go to anything on the list that people are suggesting. Buzzing into St. Louis will take 30mins but that is OK. All the kid stuff closes early downtown so unless you are going to bars or gambling, I do not see the benefit of staying downtown.

Thanks for all of the suggestions! It looks like we are going to have to rent a car because my kids are determined to go to Six Flags. I think we will get there late Friday morning and leave Monday afternoon. I wish we could stay longer but most of our vacation money is already being spent on a Disney cruise this year.

City Museum is a MUST if you have kids along. It is a great place. Magic House is ok for younger kids but over 10 or 11 it's not so good. The Zoo is very nice too.

There is a VERY nice Hilton right across the street from the ballpark. Our kids have stayed there a couple times for marching band competitions and have had a wonderful experience with the staff, etc. there. The ballpark is beautiful. They did a wonderful job building the park.

Stay at the Drury Inn at this address.

It is the one that sits at 141 and 44. It is the newest one. There are 2 other ones but I have stayed at this one before. It was nice.

Agree - the City Museum is one of the coolest places I have ever been! Also- eat at Pappys if you like barbecue! Best in the city hands down, and pizza at Pi is fabulous too! The zoo is free, and wonderful.

You asked about transportation service in St. Louis..

I find parking fairly easy to find in St. Louis. So a rental car is probably your best bet.
Below is the link for Metrolink and bus services.. altho I do not think it will serve your needs for this visit... maybe the next time. :)

Personal safety in the St. Louis metro area-- Just like any other urban/suburban area. Lock your car, do not leave ANYTHING in the car. Have a great visit... get some frozen custard. :)

I would recommend City museum too... but that may be alot for a weekend. Six Flags is all day especially with the water park.... but remember it is NO disney :lmao: but fun. You need to go to the arch too...

Hope you have a great trip!

Since you are headed to Six Flags, remember the price of admission includes the water park. It's not Typhoon Lagoon, but it is a nice water park (my kiddos loved it). I think they'd enjoy going to the water park more than Six Flags. I believe parking at Six Flags is $20.
