Hi

Just wondering if there are any members in the st louis area and what there experience has been with the DS they go to with disney dollars and gc and annual passes. In other words, have you been able to use gc for either of them. If so, what store was tht at.

thanks in advance. I finally stopped delurking and now i have a million questions:)

Welcome!!! I can't really answer your questions because I bought my APs using my credit card. I'd just call the store and ask them. They seem to be making MANY changes lately!

Here is a response I typed up for a similar question a few months ago....

You cannot get passes online. However, you can buy gift certificates at disneystore.com through MyPoints and use them to buy passes at the Disney Store.

2 things have to happen.

#1- and most important make sure they take GCs for passes at your store

Call your local dis store and talk to a manager (get a name) and make sure you can use GC's to buy passes. This is very important(you could get stuck with a lot of money you have to spend at dis store). I called 3 stores they all said yes. Then when I went to buy them a 1 store they said yes as well (I didn't buy them at that store when I realized I would have to come back a month later to pick them up(we were not at our local one)). Then a couple of days later at the one closer to our house when I did order them they said it was no problem, and again when I picked the up no problem, paid in full with GCs.

*******

#2- MyPoints has to come through for you and award your points. This to me was not such a big deal, because if they did not, I was not really out anything.(as long as DS took GCs)

------------

This is exactly what I did this during the last double points promotion. I bought $1000 worth of GCs (used my CC to get $10 cash back), bought our APs. About 1 month later, no points. Emailed MyPoints and within days... 4000pts. -about $35 worth of points.

So I got about $45 out of it. The only thing that I could have done better was to wait a couple of months and see if a Disney Store promotion came along like it did last year (buy AP get $50 GC) or Spend $50 get a free T-shirt etc...

Any Questions?

A couple of notes for you.

The ones I called were Mid Rivers, Chesterfield, and maybe the Galleria (not sure about the 3rd one)

The one I originally stopped in to buy them, and would have had no problem was Chesterfield, and the one that I did buy and pick them up at with no problem was Mid Rivers Mall, I even used my left over credit to buy Disney Dollars for our trip.

hope this helps.

One other note, if you have the money, buy them early (I only bought at the time I did because of the double points promotion) But it paid off because now it would cost an extra 60 bucks for the same tickets!!!

thanks for the insight
I am hoping that my points does double points again soon so I can take advantage of it, but with my luck it wont happen

You may also want to take a look at upromise.com. Its a college saving program(but really its not)

They pay 4% for disney store.com purchases, which is better than mypoints even during double points 4%=.04 on the dollar, while 4 pts. is more like .035 cents tops. The only problem is I don't know if they will pay you for Gift Cards ( I would email and ask) I now make all my disstore.com purchases through them.

It's also about as simple of a program you will find for offline purchases (online is the same as all the other reward programs... except you get cash instead of points)... but for the off line ones all you do is sign up and give them your credit card number(its legit) then from that point on any time you use that credit card (even one thats already paying you points on its own program[we do the toys r us one]) at a participating location money starts showing up in your online accounts. You never have to do anything. I check mine every couple of months to see how its doing and see what I happened to get paid for. Toys R Us and Waldenbooks are a couple that I know we get paid for. Some Restaurants pay 10% back thats always a nice suprise when I see that in my account. They also have pay 3% back on McDonalds Gift Certificates.

Sorry I rambled on again.

Any questions?
