One of the school vans was being used for another sport (excuse me, it's wrestling season...there is NO other sport)

Ummmmm, no it's basketball season ;)

So the dad takes the car, gets the tire fixed and starts driving back to the high school where the wrestlers are. Believe it or not, the tire goes low again. He turns around and drives back to the shop and says the tire is going out again. The guy at the store says, "let's look at it again." The dad says, "forget it; just put four new tires on the truck."

Wow! What an awesome thing for him to do :worship:

Can you believe it? He bought four brand new tires for MY car (which my son is currently keeping from me). Markie tried to pay him something and he wouldn't take it. These people take REALLY good care of my son. :goodvibes[/QUOTE]That is so wonderful Kathy, and what a super guy! I'm guessing his son is one of the one's Markie has influenced so much in a positive way, and his Dad has heard him talking about it. And I thought a free Hardee's biscuit was super......... ;)
Such a senseless and random act of kindness!!:banana:
That is one man we could all call successful in LIFE!!!
True Dat!
Now as for Marv's Update !!! ;):rotfl2::lmao:Do Ya believe his latest excuse !!:lmao::lmao:
:sad2:

Trust me Rosie, nobody was more disappointed than me when I got home last night and went to post the update! (Well, maybe that isn't difficult to believe at all......) :rotfl:

I have a neat story to share with you.

Markie's team that he is coaching in Dubuque had their Conference Championship this weekend in Cedar Rapids, IA (it's about a 90 minute drive from Dubuque). One of the school vans was being used for another sport (excuse me, it's wrestling season...there is NO other sport), so Markie had to take his car (my car) and drive some of the kids. He got a flat tire about a half mile away and pulled off the road. One of the dad's was following behind and helped to change the tire to the spare tire. The spare also had a small leak, but they were able to get to the school where they were wrestling.

The dad told Markie to give him the keys and he'd go get the tire fixed while the kids were weighing in, waiting for brackets to be done and working out to get ready for the competition.

That is a great story. And its always nice to hear about the good things people do for eachother.

Hope the storm somehow magically just misses you and you don't get the amount that's being predicted. Looks like the whole northern part of the country is really in for it the next couple of days. They're predicting a serious ice storm for us tomorrow, I'd much rather have the snow!

What a great story! Such a nice guy!

And BTW - I have no idea what's going to happen when all of this snow melts...flooding and lots of mud, I guess.... :sad2:

Wow.. what a great story. It is so refreshing to know that there are people like this in the world. ( and I happen to know a few here on the DIS too. ;))

Kathy, that is such a wonderful story! I am happy to hear your son is surrounded by generous kind people!

What a great guy! This is so kind and wonderful!

...... on a side note, .......... couldn't have happened to nicer people! :thumbsup2

Wow! That's an awesome and heart warming story. :goodvibes We need more of these people in the world. :)

I still can't get over the generosity they have shown to my son, both with the tires and at Christmas time.

Ummmmm, no it's basketball season ;)

Wow! What an awesome thing for him to do :worship:

My son has a favorite saying about basketball, but I can't remember it right now (I'll have to ask him and come back and post it for you, Michelle); actually both boys played basketball in their youth before they found their respective true loves.

That is so wonderful Kathy, and what a super guy! I'm guessing his son is one of the one's Markie has influenced so much in a positive way, and his Dad has heard him talking about it. And I thought a free Hardee's biscuit was super......... ;)

I never thought to ask him which dad it was; I'll have to see if it is one of the two boys he specifically works out with at practice or one of the others he is working with privately.

That is a great story. And its always nice to hear about the good things people do for eachother.

It is a great story; I wish there were more good stories in our world today.

I don't think it will be missing us; but I'm looking forward to a midday break from the office. :)

What a great story! Such a nice guy!

Guess what? Not only are we in a Winter Storm Warning, we are now in an Ice Storm Warning too. It is gonna get really bad here starting tomorrow... of course it is snowing like crazy now. We were already out in it because we had to bring Juliana to the doctors. She was complaining last night that her ear hurt- what did we find? An ear infection and strep throat. Very weird... last night was the first time she complained of anything. Oh well, more antibiotics for her. :sad2:

Oh, Tim....you poor guys. At least you got out before the worse of it arrives. And give Juliana a special hug for me. There is so much going around (my best friend here in Chicago had pneumonia last week).

These are for Ana: princess:princess:princess::banana::dance3::dance3::dance3::woohoo::woohoo::woohoo::yay::yay::yay::goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes:):):):love::cloud9::cloud9::love::love:princess:

Thanks for the smilies. Juliana loved them. She is laying on the couch watching a show. I have to make her lunch then we are going to watch a movie. I'll be back in a little while.. :goodvibes

Yikes Tim on the weather. :scared1: Hope Ana feels better. I'm guessing its the cold weather and just that time of the year but yeah, it seems like everyone's got flu/strep/colds. BTW, what does she prefer, Ana or Juliana? I see you call her both.

Kathy, are they still anticpating the same amounts for your storm (19-23 inches)? Or has it increased/decreased? I was watching the news and they were mentioning a little about those storms for you guys. I feel for you guys.

My job is closing at 3 and letting us leave early.....I can't even imagine what the roads will be like in the morning. Drive carefully! And I hope Juliana feels better soon! My friend's girls have strep, too so it's definitely going around!

Yes, anywhere from 18 - 24 inches (with five foot drifts with the 40 mile per hour winds). :scared1::scared1:

Glad you are getting out early. It seems to have slowed down here right now. The ice tonight is gonna be bad.
