After a longt, emotional draining day, here is the news on the cars.
My car cost $590 to fix. I needed an oil change, air filter replaced, new battery and both rear shocks replaced.
As for my husband's car, nothing will be done until we get back. We need to get a couple of estimates and just do NOT want to deal with it right now. It might be totalled (it is a Chevy Trailblazer and the entire front is smashed in, the air conditioner cracked and the shift gear does not work; however, the car starts ande the wheels turn) or it might not.
In case I have NOT mentioned this before, we have TWO abswolutely terrific sons. Andy paid for my car to be fixed on his Firestone Tire & Repair shop credit card and told us to pay him back whenever. He also insists on paying for the deductible of $500 if the other car can be fixed. I told him over and over we would just cancel our trip and pay for the repairs, etc. He told me in NO uncertain terms, that this was his vacation too and he was not forfeiting his airline tickets, park tickets, etc. He made me cry so many times today with this thoughtfulness and generosity.
So the trip is on and he won't even let me cancel some of our ADR's and give him at least part of the money. He says we are having the vacation of a lifetime together.
So I tell you all, I love both of my kids and they truly are remarkable young men.
Okay, I am going to post the last two days of questions soon as after being on the phone off and on all day with my husband and son about both cars, I got nothing done and the next two days are going to be extremely busy at the office.
Thank you all for all of your good wishes, thoughts and hugs, etc. I will say it once more: the DIS friends are the best friends.![]()
What a beautiful moment out of a completely frustrating situation. Speaks volumes about what your boys think of their parents!

But I'm so thankful all is moving forward for you and your trip and I'm hopeful that all will work out, insurance-wise, on the trailblazer. So weird it will still start and the wheels will turn with all of the other issues. But I'm glad you can set it aside until you get back. Here's to having a couple of really good days to prepare for your trip!!
