You have some good choices to pick from. I haven't tried many of them but I would love to try them all too. We did try Ohana last year and loved it.

We are trying Kona breakfast this year and I can't wait. We are also trying the Plaza based on your statement that they have the best fries in the world. I was going back and forth between Plaza and LTT and I chose the Plaza b/c of your praise. It better be good!

I see we have another vote for Ohana. Kona is definitely on the list for sure for us too now. We liked LTT, but Plaza is REALLY good.

I am SO sorry, Kathy! :guilty: But I want you to have one of your best experiences ever and food plays a HUGE part in all our lifes! ;)

If you need some more suggestions, just let me know! :flower3:

Oh, I have a feeling I'll be back to you before all is said and done. :rotfl::rotfl:

Kathy great choices !!I LOVE Boma for breakfast, used to pay oop , but I see the price went UP!!!!I am working on planning 2 trips again !!August is shaping up and in less than a month I can make my ressies:banana::banana:

Well, we are going to do Boma out of pocket because we won't be on the ding plan those two days. But I can't pass up that buffet or ht ejuice.

Have you decided on where you are eating for sure for August?

Oh Kathy, you don't know what you're missing! Picture it...warm bread pudding with a small mountain of vanilla ice cream. Then a steady stream of warm caramel goodness is poured on top. What's not to love? I wonder though if you could request a different dessert, perhaps from Kona Cafe instead? I'll taste Mark's because I am sure he iwll order it.

And speaking of Kona, I switched my ADR for breakfast there last night! When I told DH, he said he thought we were eating there already. Great, would've been nice if he'd given me that valuable info. previously! I had no idea but apparently this is his favorite breakfast place.:confused3 I'm not a mind reader, speak up boy!:headache:
:lmao::lmao::lmao: TYPICAL MAN!!!!

:lmao:Love your Tim comment too. I wonder if he knows he's being abused on more than just his TR??:rolleyes1:goodvibes
I think he noticed it on Marv's thread, maybe???? :rolleyes1:rolleyes1:rolleyes1

Lots of good advice here.

Since I have eaten at the Captain's grille- It is a nice quiet place. We had a great meal and great service. I think many people forget about this place.

If you are looking for a meal to " get away" from the hustle and bustle thisis it.

Thanks, Pat. I want to keep this one on the list until the end and I do a poll because I've read such good things about it.

Ooh, I vote for Via Napoli. My fiancee and I checked it out back in Sept when they opened. I thought the food was really good, he thought the prices were too high for pizza. :rotfl: But it was a nice evening out for the both of us. I had commented on Mary's PTR to try the iced tea - its apricot flavored and every sip made me think of the color pink. If you like tea, give it a try. :goodvibes

All the Kona discussion and pictures is making me want to check them out for breakfast too. I've never tried the Plaza either but you've got me curious with the best fries in Disney comment.

OK, I'm up to page 12 but I have to stop to comment before I forget everything!

1) YAY!!! For AKL!! And for DISCOUNTED DVC points! Pixie Dust already and you're still 8 months away! IF we are able to go back this year, we'll be going from 10/3 - 10/14 so our trips might actually overlap! I would love to do a DIS Meet if we can work it out!

2) My grandmother used to say "coolie" all the time when I was growing up and I was so confused that no one here knew what it was! I started thinking "hmm...maybe it's just an Italian thing? Or is a CT thing?" Then I kept reading and saw someone else post that they knew what it was so at least Tim and I aren't alone on this one!

3) You should definitely try Kona for breakfast! Of all the other places you mentioned, Ohana is the only one we've been to (for both breakfast and dinner) and our dinner there was awesome! They serve you a ton of food and it's all very good!

OK going back to keep reading!

Hi Kathy,
To answer your question from two pages ago, Disneyland was great. We had a lot of fun with my brother (my nieces turned 10 on the trip) and the weather was perfect. But WDW is my home and I can't wait to go in June! I just changed my CBR ressie to POR, Dan was all freaky about the refurbs at POR but I told him to stop being a whiney butt. I did check CSR too, but no availablity except for King rooms. Guess I could leave the kids home!

Are you enjoying your freezing cold winter in Chicago? You poor thing, don't know how you do it. Four more years right????

All this talk has me daydreaming about macadamia nut pancakes and Ohana.

Wow! Your PTR is moving quicky! Already 17 pages!! I am joining in, my son and I will be at WDW around the same dates, but we are staying at POP. I would love to stay at AKL, but we are doing a "cheap trip" this time, so it will have to wait!

As far as dining goes, I can only comment on what I have tried... Kona breakfast is AWESOME! Le Cellier was phenomenal, Mushroom Filet/Risotto is one of the best things I have EVER eaten. Via Napoli was also very good (we did lunch) and their sangria was fabulous. I have eaten at Crystal Palace but not recently, but I do remember enjoying it. I had an unpleasant experience at 'Ohana for dinner, but it just seemed like an off night, and I still plan on returning in the future. I have done breakfast at Tusker House and dinner at Boma and those were great too.

Looing forward to reading more about your plans. I am holding off on my own PTR until I get my latest TR finished, so it's nice to live vicariously!

With LC as soon as your ADR window opens up I would take whatever date you can get. Seems that the latest you can get for lunch is around 2:50pm which isn't bad as it closes for lunch at 3pm. You can always keep trying for another date to see if any cancellations. I did that with CRT, we originally had a 5:30pm dinner, I checked a little while later to see if any later ADR's had come up and an 8:30pm was there staring me in the face :teeth:

Via Napoli is definitely on the list. You'll see later that I've narrowed it down and asking for a vote of three from everyone. The Plaza is a LONG TIME favorite of ours.

Thanks, Ali. We are so excited about AKL. Kona will be on the final list and we will pay out of pocket.

Glad you had a good time at Disneyland and had fun with your brother and family.

No, I'm not enjoying the freezing weather in Chicago...I am literally sick of it.

:welcome::welcome: Kona is definitely on the list; LeCellier will be in the "vote" coming up shortly.

How did I miss that you had started your PTR???

I'm here now my friend  Can't wait to read more!!!

Queen, I am SO happy you are here. :goodvibes

Thanks for the advice on LeCellier, Stefy.

First, for Connie, Mary and Tim:

Packages were sent to Ashton, Cayley, Avery and Ana today for Valentine's Day (just wanted you to be on the lookout)

Mary, here are our plans as of now looking at last year's calendar/hours

Saturday, September 24 -- swimming with you and the girls at AKL

Sunday, September 25 -- 8:05 a.m. ADR at Crystal Palace (does this work for you and the girls?) We will spend the day at MK, pool at the CSR and then back to MK for EMH

Monday, September 26 -- 7:30 breakfast at Kona; then to the Studios for morning and early p.m.; then to Epcot where we will have dinner at Via Napoli

Tuesday, September 27 -- Epcot at a.m.; pool at the CSR and then Halloween Party with you and the girls (assuming this is a party night as it was last year)

Wednesday, September 28 -- Animal Kingdom at 8 a.m. for EMH's; then MK in the afternoon and evening; we will have dinner at the Plaza

Mary, let me know if that works for you guys as far as Crystal Palace and the Halloween Party

Okay, everyone else. We have narrowed down our ADR choices to the following:

These meals are covered: Boma breakfast (paying out of pocket), Crystal Palace (1 table service), Kona (paying out of pocket), Earl of Sandwich (paying out of pocket), Via Napoli (1 table service), Plaza (paying out of pocket)

This leaves us 2 table service credits each. We are down to these choices:

LeCellier (lunch)

Liberty Tree Tavern (late lunch--Mark's request if we can't decide on anything else; I won't do dinner, don't care for "Thanksgiving" meal)

Coral Reef (lunch or dinner)

Captain's Grille (dinner)

Grand Floridian Cafe (late lunch or dinner)

Mark was not impressed with Ohana menu so that is off the list. Also, Nicki, Mark did not like the Wave menu.

So, I'd appreciate if you would all vote for two to help me out here.

Thanks, DIS friends.

My 2 cents- or 2 credits.:teeth:

Le Cellier-lunch

I would go for the Captains Grille. I have never eaten at GFC but the menu actually look similar based on what I like.

I have eaten at Coral Reef and enjoyed it but the menu has changed.

I would go with Le Cellier twice! :lmao:
Just kidding, I would go with Le Cellier and Liberty Tree Tavern!

I'm out of my depth here, as I haven't eaten at any of those places. But you always talk about how much you love Le Cellier, so... I wish I could be more helpful, as that would mean that I had eaten at so many more Disney restaurants. :goodvibes

We have Valentine's for you guys too!!

Sun am works for us though we will be fighting the time change and need to be up early to catch the bus over to MK-Jeff will be joining us.
According to TP-the 27th is a party night. I will check with my inlaws to see if they want to go.
When can we have dinner? Or do you not have a slot?? I think it would be fun to go to Captain's Grill together. An "adult" place:love:
IMy other vote for you would be LC. I have found the food to be hit and miss at Coral Reef and I have not tried the others.

Too funny; I like LeCellier well enough that I could go twice. But I do want to try something new.

You'll be able to help me more next year. Did you see Nicki might be meeting Karin next month in Disney?

Why don't you take a cab? Do you want to make it later? Mark and I could go do rides and then we could do breakfast at 9:30 or 10:00. Whatever works for you will work for us.

We are keeping Tuesday open for the Party...I trust your word on the date.

I will mark your vote for Captain's Grille. Until we figure out the last two places, I won't know which night we are doing. But I will keep you in the loop.

OK - I know I always get impossibly behind on your TRs cause they move so fast, but aren't you staying at AK???? But your doing the CSR pool? Is that where Mary and the girls are staying? I love the AK pool. Probably missed something so just smack me upside the head so I pay better attention.

As far as those remaining TS - pick Le Cellier Lunch and LTT lunch. They are both my two all time fav lunches. Le Cellier has that wonderful filet or the price fix lunch where you get an appe, entree, and dessert. There prime rib sandwich is to die for. And the roast beef sandwich at LTT is fantastic. Now keep in mind that I am not even a big meat eater. I NEVER eat prime rib and rarely eat roast beef, so that is saying something!

MaryEllen, we are doing two nights at the AKL (hence the title...cheating on the CSR) without going to the parks--just hanging at the resort and swimming with Princess Avery and Cayley. Then we move to CSR and go on the dining plan and do the parks.

And please...I'm ALWAYS behind on your report. It happens. It's called life (damn life getting in the way of our DISsing :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:).

Oh this one's easy Kathy! I'd go with Le Cellier and Grand Floridian Cafe!:thumbsup2

Le Cellier is ahhhh, lip smacking good!:cloud9: And the Grand Floridian Cafe is IMO an undiscovered gem in the crown of Disney dining! Didn't that sound nice? The food is really good, really really good! I like that's it more quiet as opposed to the 1900 Park Fare dinner down the lobby. So that's my vote. I've never eaten at Captain's Grill and Coral Reef didn't really thrill me last time, although it was lunch not dinner we had there so perhaps dinner is better?

We are considering renting a car-just talked to my MIL about it! So early should be fine. They also want to go to the party. Thanks!!

Thanks for the vote, Molly. I wanted to get this out here before you left for your trip. I have so noted your selections. :)

So do you want me to make the ADR for that Sunday for six (or eight?) for Crystal Palace at 8:05?

Couldnt do it better if I picked it myself :rotfl:

This leaves us 2 table service credits each. We are down to these choices:

LeCellier (lunch) Great choice, especially since this will be a signature place by the time you go

Liberty Tree Tavern (late lunch--Mark's request if we can't decide on anything else; I won't do dinner, don't care for "Thanksgiving" meal)

This was great! I was very reluctant to eat here but the pot roast was to die for the chicken and dumplings was insanity...sooo good!

Coral Reef (lunch or dinner) Nah, the atmosphere is great but the food not so much

Captain's Grille (dinner) This was a great place to eat, the best pork chop I ever had

Grand Floridian Cafe (late lunch or dinner) Another great choice :thumbsup2

Mark was not impressed with Ohana menu so that is off the list. Also, Nicki, Mark did not like the Wave menu. Todd doesnt like Ohana either and tell Romeo that is ok...the Wave is not for everyone...but the salad is sooooo good!

So, I'd appreciate if you would all vote for two to help me out here.

Thanks, DIS friends.

I vote for Le Cellier and Grand Floridian Cafe

But whatever you choose I hope you love it!
