can't help with any of your dining as this will be our first time to try out TS; instead of CS...but, don't know if you are award that if you go to City Walk after a certain time parking is free (I think it is 5) so that may be something to keep in mind (why pay $15 for parking if you can go just a little later and do it for free, right?!? ;)

Good Morning, m'dear!

So sorry I've been around less than usual. Life took a turn for the busy, and I sometimes forget to get over here to the PTR side for the few that I follow.

Nevertheless, I feel your dining dilemma pain. It is so hard to come up with just the right plan- making dining and touring mesh!

I do know that I've heard such wonderful things about Tusker, and we thought O'hana was simply yummy and very fun! Never been to several of hte places, but Via is getting great reviews right now too.

I'd say, if you're up for any of them, do up a mock touring plan and see what fits in best.

Even though we still have plenty of time before we make our ADR's, I like to have a good idea of what I am going to book. I am really struggling with it this time as we want to try new places, but also go back to some old places.

The first two days of our stay we will not be on the dining plan and will pay out of pocket. These are our plans for our first two nights:

Friday, September 23 -- we will eat at Emeril's at CityWalk by Universal
I can't help ya here.
Saturday, September 24 -- we will have breakfast at Boma and a late lunch at Earl of Sandwich (Earl is a new place for us)
I always wanted to try Boma but we haven't yet. Earl is so good and the prices are reasonable too.

So, that leaves us 3 table service meals

We want to try Kona for breakfast, Via Napoli, Captain's Grill, Ohana (for dinner...don't like Stitch so we won't do breakfast), possibly Tusker House for the Nemo seating and Wolfgang Puck Express. We'd also like to go back to either Mama Melrose or 50's Prime Time and possibly LeCellier.

Please let me know which one(s) you prefer and why. Thanks. :goodvibes
You can always pay out of pocket at Kona... the breakfast isn't too expensive and I don't think that would be a good use of TS credits.

I LOVE 'Ohana for dinner. There is soooooo much food and the view is great. They even do a few things with the kids so I'm sure Mark would like that! :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Mama Melrose was good when we ate there in December. I'd go back. :rolleyes1

I LOVED LeCellier... the filet was DA BOMB!!!! (hood talk!:lmao:)

I've always wanted to do breakfast at Tusker House but it has never fit into our plans...

The others I can't help you with because I have never eaten there.:goodvibes

Thanks, Connie. I actually knew that you could get cheaper parking after a certain hour. Let me tell you again how excited Mark and I are that we are going to meet you and Ashton on our trip. :woohoo::woohoo:

Liesa, no apologies necessary (I'm behind too, and just posted to your last two updates).

I think once I get a few ideas here, I will do just as you suggest a mock touring plan and start from there (I'll go by the park hours from last year at the time we are going).

Via Napoli is REALLY high on my list because Nicki and Todd went three times and loved it.

I always wanted to try Boma but we haven't yet. Earl is so good and the prices are reasonable too.

Tim, we've done Boma twice now for breakfast and it has become a MUST DO for us.

Well, if Kona is cheap enough to pay out of pocket, then I could do three lunch or dinners, and that would help a lot.

We love Mama Melrose--never had a bad meal, but we've skipped it the last two years and gone to Sci Fi and not eaten at the Studios last trip except counter service. LeCellier has always been a favorite and we skipped it last year to go to Biergarten and we couldn't fit both of them in.

Oh, well Ohanas should definitely be on the list if there is stuff for Mark to do. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I think the best way to solve the problem is to go back to going to Disney for ten days and THEN go to Marco Island for a week. I wonder if I can convince the boss I need a three week vacation ALL AT ONE TIME????

Thanks, Connie. I actually knew that you could get cheaper parking after a certain hour. Let me tell you again how excited Mark and I are that we are going to meet you and Ashton on our trip. :woohoo::woohoo:

We can't wait either! this is going to be a great year!! we get to meet up with you and Mark, Mary, Jeff and the girls, Leanne & Joe and girls (I think you miss them by one day), and a few more dissers ...I can't wait! I'm so excited!!!

WE LOVE EOS!!!! Ashton loves their soup and Danny & I love everything else we have tried so far. I don't know what it is about their food; I don't even care for sandwiches :confused3. I think they are just so fresh and the flavors from the sauce/dressings are a perfect mixture.

and the parking is not free any longer it is now a big $3 from 6-10 pm...last year it was free; guess they need to pay someone's salary ;)

Saturday, September 24 -- we will have breakfast at Boma and a late lunch at Earl of Sandwich (Earl is a new place for us)

We're doing Boma breakfast too, I've only been for dinner and I've heard such great things about breakfast there - can't wait!!

Love EoS, yum!

We HAVE to do Crystal Palace for breakfast (I MUST have my Puffed French Toast)

Duh! After having that Puffed French Toast for the first time on our last family trip, CP breakfast has made my must do list too.

Not sure how much help I can be with the rest of these. Only done Kona for dinner, twice, loved it both times. I agree with what others have said though, not sure I'd use a TS credit for this breakfast, pay OOP & use the credit elsewhere :thumbsup2

Via Napoli is on my list, it's getting great reviews.

'Ohana, I'm in the minority here, but we didn't care for it much. Once was enough. Meat was dry and tough, service was slow, restaurant was very noisy and chaotic.

I love Le Cellier, really, really love it. We ate there for the first time in 2006 and it has been on the 'must do' list ever since. If you decide to eat here, make it for lunch, it's gone to 2 TS credits for dinner :sad2:

Only done breakfast at Tusker House, so I can't help there. I've never had a problem getting a seat at Nemo, and never lined up really early, so if you're eating there just for the Nemo seating, I'm not sure it's worth it. Yak & Yeti is a good AK choice.....

Never been to Captain's Grill, 50s Prime Time or Mama Melrose, sorry

Thanks for the thoughts on EOS.

Thanks, Michelle...you've been a big help. Except I totally forgot about Yak & Yeti and we LOVED it there in 2008. Now, that has to be added to the list. :rotfl::rotfl:

We always do The Plaza as our last meal of our trip, but I'm not sure we'll be at the MK on our last day (I've not made our plans for what parks what days as of yet). We would pay out of pocket for Plaza

I have tons of time..and I am struggling with the same thing. I need to try some new places...but how can I not go to some favorites from past trips???

On your list...
Kona is on my list...but have never been there. Since breakfast isn't a high ticket I am thinking of doing this oop.

Captains grill I know nothing about...

Ohana I LOVED on our last trip. I really want to do this again so I would say :thumbsup2 to that choice.

Via Napoli is on my list too...but never have been there.

Tusker for the Nemo package was really nice. Be aware though that the seats are REALLY close to the stage. I liked it, but I don't think everyone would. You can see each cm...and it does kinda lessen the "illusion" when you can see them.

WGPE is on my list. I had the BEST salmon there last trip. I was just talking about it. My dh's family was saying how one should never get salmon in FL (we are PNW people..and so salmon..well...) Anyway...I had to laugh cause the best salmon I have ever had was in FL...

Mama Melrose for the Fantasmic package is a good use of TS credit since you get to order an ap with the meal. I am thinking of doing this again in December.

50's Prime Time I have never been to and if I have dh with me..probably never will. The antics would keep him away. So I have no input on this one...

Le Cellier is so yummy...but dinner being a 2 ts credit will cut that out for me. Maybe for lunch.

I know I was no help :sad2: You need to figure out what to do with 3 ts credits and of those on your list...I would say 5 you should do. :confused3
Sorry....

YAY! I get to tell you two what to do! :lovestruc

Friday, September 23 -- we will eat at Emeril's at CityWalk by Universal I think this is a very good idea
Saturday, September 24 -- we will have breakfast at Boma and a late lunch at Earl of Sandwich (Earl is a new place for us) I agree with this one too and if you get hungry at night go to the CS in the AKL and grab something

That leaves us Sunday - Wednesday for the dining plan giving us four table service places.

We HAVE to do Crystal Palace for breakfast (I MUST have my Puffed French Toast)

We always do The Plaza as our last meal of our trip, but I'm not sure we'll be at the MK on our last day (I've not made our plans for what parks what days as of yet). We would pay out of pocket for Plaza

My thoughts are this...go do Kona for breakfast cuz its da bomb, go to Via Napoli for lunch because if Todd can eat there three times in one trip it got to be good and for dinner I would go out of your norm and go to the Wave..it is to die for.

But if you dont like that choice go with Capts Grill...the place is very quiet and the food is excellent.

What else can I boss you around with???

XO babe

We have eaten at Tusker House for lunch the past two trips. There are a lot of selections and we really enjoy it. It's not as ethnic feeling as Boma is for dinner, but it's very good. I love the veggie samosas there! They mix in the potato ones with the veggie ones, so I'm usually the crazy person who looks really closely for the green-tinted ones without putting my face fully into the basket.

We like Ohana, but I was disappointed last time. We were seated in the back area and we missed out being involved in all the fun. The food was good, though. We did a last minute trip last Sept and couldn't get in.

We haven't eaten at 50s in 5 years, so I won't even try to act like I know what I'm talking about with that one, although I do still have dreams about their s'mores dessert.

Way to go Markie!!!! What a great wrestling meet - and you said it was 9 hours long? Wow! :faint: He must have been exhausted when he was done!

Thanks. :goodvibes

Kona breakfast - really good, awesome coffee.
Via Napoli - we only tried the pizza, it was good. But we are pizza snobs living in NYC, so it wasn't quite as good as here, but best on property.
Captain's Grill - never been there.
Ohana dinner - it was so good I ate myself sick. Deeeeeelish. We might attempt to add this to our trip. I just have to be sure to restrain myself a bit!
Tusker House - never been.
WPE - very good. I haven't eaten there in a while since they changed their menu, but previously we really enjoyed everything we have tried from there, an excellent CS credit deal. I love the creme brulee and the chinios chicken salad is also deslih.
Mama Melrose - as you know from my update, yummy!
50's PT - we always enjoy this too.
LeCellier - we have only done it once, it was good.

So with all that I would choose 1 old favorite and 2 newbies.

Old fav - LeCellier.
Newbies - Via Napoli (reason I didn't choose Mama Melrose as the old fav) and Ohana dinner.

Variety of food - you've got breakfast at Crystal Palace, steak at LeCellier, italian at VN, and kinda Polynesian meat and noodle fest at Ohana.

I hope that helps a bit! :goodvibes

Boma is amazing for breakfast! We're eating there soon!:thumbsup2 It's a buffet offering alot of standard breakfast food but then there's some more ethnic dishes that were very yummy. And I love the decor!

Kona breakfast is fabulous, DH is addicted the press pot coffee there (I prefer the Polynesian juice). I think he had the Tonga Toast which honestly looked like it should put a person into a sugar coma! I had the ever dainty Big Kahuna platter! No way could I finish all of it but it was nice to have all of that variety.

Ohana breakfast is another great one, we eat there every single trip. Again, the Polynesian juice is fab and I might have a slight addiction to Mickey waffles...:rolleyes1 The restaurant is sooooo what's the word, Polynesian! Love it!

I love Tusker House for lunch but for some reason DH wasn't too thrilled with it? Just ignore him and listen to me, it's good! Lots of delicious food here, carved meats, sauces, dessert, rice and chicken, more dessert, salads, dessert...

Le Cellier is a must do for us. I had the mushroom filet and I would've licked my plate if I didn't think it was bad manners! And I don't care for mushrooms or rather the texture I should say. But this was incredible!

50's Prime Time is very good! Best hot fudge sundae I think I had while at Disney. I recall DH salivating over the meatloaf too!

Crystal Palace is another must do for breakfast, we usually get an ADR before the park opens. More Mickey waffles, puffed french toast (heavenly!) and I love how bright and open the restaurant is. I feel like I'm eating in a gazebo!

I've never been to Captain's Grill, Wolgang Puck or Mama Melrose so I can't help you there.

We're trying The Plaza for the 1st time soon, I've heard GREAT things about it!:thumbsup2

I'm going to throw my two cents in the ring on dining. . .

Ohana - we only did breakfast and had a very bad experience with our buzzer getting skipped and not getting seated and then had bad service. Seems like this place runs behind a lot. Not sure about dinner but have heard good things about the food and fun.

Tusker House - we did the character breakfast twice and loved it! Great selection of food and a Chef Mickey's type atmosphere. Not sure about lunch.

Le Cellier - We love, love, love Le Cellier! Lunch has always been great for us and only one TS credit!

Mama Melrose or 50's Prime Time - We liked both which is surprising because MM gets bad reviews a lot. If I was choosing one though, I would give a slight edge to 50's.

We are trying several new restaurants this trip too - Biergarten, Yak And Yeti, Tony's and Hoop De Doo.

Good luck deciding!

We went to Kona for breakfast in Nov - we both had the Tonga Toast, coffee and juice. The total was under $35.....don't know if that is a good "bargain" for the Dining plan TS credit. The food was good and Danny wants to go back again, I probably wouldn't get the Tonga toast again as it was too sweet that early in the morning.

Have nver been to Via Napoli, Captain's Grill, OHana, or Wolfgang Pucks.

We did enjoy Tusker House the last time we went, which has been a couple years, although Danny did wind up making a peanut butter sandwich while we were there. :sad2: Fortunately, for the price of a buffet, he dideat plenty of the other food too, he just decided he was hungry for peanut butter when he saw it there.

We've also never been to Mama Melrose. Prime Time is a "must do" for us on just about every trip. We have been to Le Cellier once. He liked his steak, I was underwhelmed by my cheese soup (that I had heard soooo many raves about and probably had too high of expectations for).

If you go to OHana for breakfast, can you tell your seater or server that you don't care to see the characters - or do you not even want to be in the same room with Stitch?:stitch:

Sorry....

I think we'll skip Tusker House if the seats are that close and it takes away from the illusion. We like MM for the Fantasmic Package too...if we get to see it this year (last year it wasn't showing the one and only day we could go to the Studios).

See, you actually were of help with the Tusker House/Nemo arrangement.

YAY! I get to tell you two what to do! :lovestruc

Oh someone is DEFINITELY feeling better that she is bossing me around. Wait, don't you always boss me around????

Via Napoli is probably the one we will definitely do and then we'll decide on the others as I get more thoughts here. I think we'll do Kona since we can pay out of pocket for that one.

xoxoxoxo to you too, Babe. And I am so glad you are feeling better.

We have eaten at Tusker House for lunch the past two trips. There are a lot of selections and we really enjoy it. It's not as ethnic feeling as Boma is for dinner, but it's very good.

Thanks, Liz. We've never done Boma for dinner as I'm not into too much "ethnic" food and I've heard some weird stuff about Boma's dinner and the spices. Sorry you were disappointed in Ohana. Yes, the s'mores dessert...maybe we should just go for dessert?

Way to go Markie!!!! What a great wrestling meet - and you said it was 9 hours long? Wow! :faint: He must have been exhausted when he was done!

Thanks, Brook. Markie is used to those long days. When he started wrestling 15 years ago, we would leave at 5:30 a.m. and not get home until 7 at night...they were LONG, LONG days. I'm so glad he is coaching and giving back.

Kona I think is going to be a definite, but out of pocket. And Via Napoli I think will be the one most definite. Nicki & Todd loved it. I've never liked pizza at any Disney place, but I'd love to try some of their other offerings.

I like your theory on the variety of food...very helpful.

Boma is amazing for breakfast! We're eating there soon!:thumbsup2 It's a buffet offering alot of standard breakfast food but then there's some more ethnic dishes that were very yummy. And I love the decor! Yes, we've enjoyed it the last two years. The juice is to DIE for and so is the food.

Mark would go for the Big Kahuna; I'd probably get an omelet or waffle or something. I won't do Tonga Toast--I don't eat ANYTHING with banana in it.

Ohana breakfast is another great one, we eat there every single trip. Again, the Polynesian juice is fab and I might have a slight addiction to Mickey waffles...:rolleyes1 The restaurant is sooooo what's the word, Polynesian! Love it! We would do dinner, not breakfast. As I said, do NOT like Stitch and I don't care for family style...I prefer buffets so I can pick the food I like and not have to eat what they provide.

I love Tusker House for lunch but for some reason DH wasn't too thrilled with it? Just ignore him and listen to me, it's good! Lots of delicious food here, carved meats, sauces, dessert, rice and chicken, more dessert, salads, dessert...Of course I listen to you, Molly, and NOT the DH. :)

Le Cellier is a must do for us. I had the mushroom filet and I would've licked my plate if I didn't think it was bad manners! And I don't care for mushrooms or rather the texture I should say. But this was incredible! I was really sorry we didn't go last year.

50's Prime Time is very good! Best hot fudge sundae I think I had while at Disney. I recall DH salivating over the meatloaf too! It's been 12 years since we've been there and why Iw as thinking of going back.

Crystal Palace is another must do for breakfast, we usually get an ADR before the park opens. More Mickey waffles, puffed french toast (heavenly!) and I love how bright and open the restaurant is. I feel like I'm eating in a gazebo! We always get the 8:05 ADR for this breakfast.

I've never been to Captain's Grill, Wolgang Puck or Mama Melrose so I can't help you there.

We're trying The Plaza for the 1st time soon, I've heard GREAT things about it!:thumbsup2

Comments in red above. You will LOVE The Plaza. It is always our last meal of the trip. We have had everything there and have never had a bad meal (service can be a tad slow on occasion). They have the best french fries in ALL of Disney.

You will LOVE Yak & Yeti; we went in 2008 and had a great meal there (I had the sweet/sour pork and DH had the Duck and we both almost licked the plates.

We also enjoy Biergarten a lot too and were just there in September; just don't eat the Chicken Schnitzel. I'm not sure why they have Chicken Schnitzel and not Veal Schnitzel...I find it odd; but the chicken was very dried out. Everything else was delicous including the desserts (I had TWO plates of dessert).

Peanut butter sandwich at Tusker House. This would absolutely thrill Mark; he loves his PBJ sandwiches. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I am sorry you were underwhelmed by the cheese soup at LeCellier; I have it every time we go there and absolutely love it.

I would feel silly saying I didn't want to see Stitch; but there is just something about him that neither one of us like and we avoid him in the parks too. We also don't care for family style. I don't eat eggs unless it is an omelet, so I prefer a buffet where I can pick out what I want to eat.

Thanks for all the ideas, friends. Keep them coming.

Looks like you've gotten plenty of dining advice already. I'll just say that you know how much I love Le Cellier and 50's PT. Mama Melroses was just "meh" for us. Nothing bad, but we didn't feel the need to hurry back. I hope you get to try Via Napoli, because I'm really interested in that one!

Thanks for the scoop!

I am getting a little worried about our Tony's dinner ADR since I haven't read the greatest reviews. I was thinking about switching to the Plaza but when I booked I thought we would like Tony's better. Thoughts anyone?

We've done Tony's a couple of times. Definitely prefer lunch over dinner -- portions are a little smaller (I don't eat all that much) and the service is better. We've never really had a bad meal. We always do Plaza because we enjoy a more "casual" meal after all the heavy food we eat the rest of the trip.

Ok, let me see if I can do this from memory

Tusker House-had bkfst there in Dec. Felt the characters were really rushed. The selection was good though

I am in the minority but not a Le Cellier fan

Never had Kona bkfst though dinner was ok

Never had 50's Prime Time

Really liked Boma

Liked O'Hana for dinner

Really like Plaza

Via Napoli was ok in my opinion-sorry Todd
