any thoughts on SSR vs a resale at BWV? we're getting ready to send in the paperwork for SSR and having some last minute hesitation thinking we should go for BWV...

...but we've never stayed there, so we don't know for sure if we'd like it. we love the area and the idea of all the restaurants in walking distance from BWV. might have the same benefits at SSR with DD, but not sure if we'll feel isolated since it's just a DVC resort. just checking in for some input before we send in the papers for SSR...thanks!

Maybe you should wait a while before you buy. Rent some points or go through Central Reservations and try out the BWV. Wait until SSR opens and take the tour there and compare. At that point you can make an informed judgement. But no matter what you do, buy where you want to stay.

I own at the BWV and love it there.

I would second HBC's advice. It's repeated here countless times that you should buy where you want to stay, and for a 38 or 50 year investment you should do a little more research. I wish all research could be as hard as taking one SSR trip and one BWV trip to compare! Rent the points or go through CRO during the summer (value season) and check them out...

We bought into DVC this summer and while SSR was the most available and selling for a 50-year term, we fell in love with Crescent Lake while doing the sales meeting. Ended up buying BCV and could not be happier! Wanted the EPCOT proximity and felt the risk of no BCV or BWV availability at the 7-month window was too great. Look into what you really want before you invest.

so it really can make a difference in getting a reservation somewhere other than your resort home? our cast member sales rep made it seem like it's not a problem, but i really get the sense from this board that it can be several times during the year. thanks for your advice. a lot of thinking to do.

It can make a difference for the type of room and the time of year. There are times of the year that are in very high demand by DVC owners and hard to book at the 7 month window. One of the nice things about the BWV is that there are two separate tiers of points and to get a standard room there (costing less points), the 11 month window is important (almost vital).

I would NOT buy at SSR with the intention of being able to freely switch to the BWV at 7 months. BWV is one of the highest rated timeshares in the world and DVC has over 70,000 owners who are all able to reserve the BWV at 7 months.

I bought in at SSR so that Disney would be my DD on a short boat ride from Pleasure Island... :crazy2:
