Well we are back and I am in one peice and here is a short take on the trip.SSR - as stated during our OKW meeting the price is $89 and starts selling Friday (8/1/03). Did not say anything about MB $10 off per point. Show units are ready and will be available next week to look at. That was it for the SSR update.
The trip/room report - After a 2 day drive from Texas we arrived on 7/26/03 (6PM) and got room 1815/16 (2BR lockout). It was a first floor as requested due to my broken knee and overlooked the edge of the 6th fairway with the green to our left. Was a great spot to watch approach shots and green putts. Since I had a bad knee I spent alot of time on the porch and it amazed me the amount of people hitting their ball into the big pond that is right before the green. This is the pond that has the big fountain buy the bridge. I cannot recommend building 18 enough as we never heard any bus or car noise at any hour inside. Also we had rooms 1811/12 (another 2BR lockout) and 1813 for other family members. Also I must report that their room were great and they really enjoyed them. All the units had the new kitchen appliances and the whole units seemed to have been refurbished. It was nice to see that our dues are being used wisely.
The knee - As stated before the trip I broke my knee on 6/23/03 and I got a wheel chair from OKW on checking in with no problem. Also it did not cost a penny and I think this is a very nice benny for members and I must say it was in very good shape and easy to use. I went about 8 time between our room and the main pool/checkin area and it was not that hard to get around. I only went to the MK one day and I had no trouble pushing myself with the exception of getting up the castle incline. Also getting on the few rides I did go on their were no real problems either. I was going to go to MGM but decided not to. I really enjoyed visiting with pop as he is getting up in years if you know what I mean. The knee held up fine (this was week 3 through 5) and at the Ortho visit Monday the x-ray showed that the bone did not move so it is locked in place unless I do something dumb like try to walk. He told me I do not have to were the case anymore but it was hard sleeping last night as the musles are so weak in that leg that they started to hurt a little. I will be doing some excerises and next week I can drive if I want to after I build them up a little.
SSR buy in - After hearing that SSR is going to be $89 per point even if MB is giving $10 off I think at $79 I will try to go the resale route. Also on hearing that the rooms my be slightly small that about sealed it. I would think that if I can get a resale in the $70-73 range for OKW I would be ahead even with the fees. Am I correct on this? I am looking at 100 to 200 points FYI.
Overall view - The trip back was not bad and my two kids G6, B4 were very good in the van. Also I don't think I would have taken the trip if we did not have a high top conversion van. That height really made getting in and out not that hard. Also for FYI my 18YO daughter went to SAB several days and they never refused letting here and our sister's kids in. I know it says you cannot hope there but they did 3 days no problem. Also they said alot of the people did not have any wrist bands on.
