Just back from a GREAT Spring Break trip 3/17-3/23. Crowds were heavy, but no more than we expected. Weather was perfect and it turned into one of our best trips ever.

OPINION - We are OKW owners staying for the first time at SSR and I do not understand all the SSR bashing. We thought it was great. We were in Congress Park with a DTD view. I did not think it was "UN-Disney" at all. Great staff, no problems with bus service, super pool. OKW is still home but we would definately stay there again.

OBSERVATION - The Heely situation has definately diminished since Christmas. I guess they were all still new presents then. They were still around, but not nearly as much as three months ago. Unfortunately the same cannot be said for smokers. More and more situations af people ignoring the smoking rules. Multiple experiences of people just walking through the park smoking. I am certain there are plenty of considerate smokers out there, but the growing inconsiderate ones are making you all look bad.

RUMOR - (Disclaimer.....This rumor came from a Bus Driver so take it for what it is worth. It did seem legit to me however.) Starting sometime in April, the Disney Bus service is computerizing all its routes. The drivers will no longer be making announcements. They will be recorded similar to the Monorail announcements. The drivers will also no longer be talking to each other or to dispatch via radio. It will be all computerized. He also said the service will move from every 20 minutes to every 30 minutes. I have not confirmed this anywhere else, but he did seem to know what he was talking about.

I'm glad you had a nice trip!

Also glad to hear about the reduced heelies!

I have heard some of this bus rumor elsewhere, and it doesn't sound unlikely to me. The thing that concerns me a bit, though, is the 30 minutes instead of 20. It seems like a long time between busses if you just missed one.:rolleyes1

So glad you loved SSR! Thanks for the report...and hey, we all love a good rumor...even one about buses!

Thanks for the report Coach! :thumbsup2 Glad to hear you enjoyed your trip to SSR.

The bus thing sounds a little scary!~ You would think that with those technological improvements, it would speed things up, not make the wait longer. Thanks so much for the rumor disclaimer;)

I think it would be interesting to post this rumor on the Transportation board. I'll bet there are some bus drivers over there who may know whether or not this is true.

I have heard the bus thing too. Something about GPS, but it was in regards to making it more efficient, not longer.

The bus driver who posts on the Transportation board has confirmed technological advances to the bus. He seems to think that the "routes" will vary more based on demand.

Thanks for the kind words about SSR. I have to admit that I have been nervous about our upcoming trip (5 days tillwe go home :cool1: ) what with all of the negative threads about SSR. I am now less worried about what my family is gonna think :thumbsup2 Some of the folks we are bringing are newbie to WDW and DVC we really wanted SSr to make a great impression, and now I know it will!:woohoo:

Counting down the hours till we're home!

I'm glad you and your family had a great trip. I also heard that bus rumor before. I sure hope it isn't going to 30 min. between busses. We'll all soon find out I guess.

What is the "heely situation?" :confused3

ddoconnell-You will love SSR. We had our first trip home this past January and we loved SSR. We stayed in Congress Park with an amazing view to DDT (the firework were great on New Years). The room was wonderful (1brm) and the entire experience was everything we hoped it would be. Have a wonderful trip and judge for yourself. I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

We also stayed at BCV on the same trip and our children actually preferred SSR. The pullout at BCV was very uncomfortable, I slept one night on it with an ill child, and I found the accomodations seemed worn (I know it's older) then SSR. Our particular room was, not to say they all are.

Have the Best Time!!

I would not worry. Most of the complaining about SSR is from the same group of people over and over again.

SSR is a beautiful resort with really nice amenities.

The resort is not for everyone, but there is not one resort that everyone loves!
